I"m quite fine with being able to play skirmish at all.


I'll second that. I tried Vanilla skirmish. Hated it.

Now we get 2 completely different styles. Slow research in GM, but I LOVE the way we get full updates in skirmish. This is going to be.. interesting.

Still we get to see just how bad each ship can get! :lol: :lol: :lol:
(and we can see all your hardwork too..)

agreed, sometimes you just havent got the time to play a GC, it takes some time before a GC becomes real fun, so some nice fast skirmish action is gonna be nice!

Ok, so will the tech tree for multiplayer Galactic Conquest come fully upgraded, or can you still upgrade in that too(which I'm kindof hoping for)

MP GC has to use the same units and whatnot as SP, so upgrading is going to be effectively broken in it :lol:. Basically, I can only get it to work in one or the other, but not both.

But one player will still be the same correct?

Well nothing beats a GC battle, simply because you get to see a fleet of like 40 ships warp into system, which gives me funny feelings everytime I see it.

BUT Skirmish is just great for those moods where you're like, "....damnit.... i don't have a rebel campaign yet, but I want to kick a SSD's ass...."

Hey PR are you going to post your mod in the latest news section of FF too?

When I do the outline of what's in v1.0 probably, yes.

But one player will still be the same correct?

Yeah, I've made no concessions for MP GC.

I rigged it with the intention of using it for the starbase fix, but am quickly running out of time and it looks like I won't get to that for this version. Starbases will still be functional, you'll just be unable to build corvettes and smaller starships from the Level 5s, but you can get to them from planets with lower levels. I figured it would be a shame to waste the model, so I put it into Skirmish as a replacement for the Hutt asteroid base-type objects.

The pirate bases are still in GC.

The more ships I add, the worse the UI problem becomes, so yes, inevitably I'll have to do something about it in terms of breaking apart the starbase and I'm shooting for sooner rather than later. It'll most likely be one of the first changes I make after the release, but I don't want to do it now since I could potentially break something significantly with starbases and there isn't much time to catch it.

Out of interest only, what's the UI problem and do you plan to have a range of pirate starbases - afterall not all pirates are equal

You know how in Vanilla how the list of ships is short? Well theres so many new ships in PR that some of them are cut off the list.

PR has compensated for this by putting more advanced ships that need research and higher level spacestations in front of the list, that way you can still produce the ships cut off the list at lower level spacestations.

But eventually, with the list of new ships increasing, it will still cause problems.

And as well as the build icons for the actual ships, there are the research and upgrade icons, and the hero icons, and the special structures...

Important "pirate" (read: defense force, whether something lawful like CorSec or otherwise like Nym) worlds can have Golans or other platforms.

need building to lock some of the options or poerhaps move ungrades to ground for now...

They will use the ground queue if I do that, which isn't desirable.

Yes. In many cases, the level of detail is much higher than necessary for an RTS. The new ships are flight-sim quality.
