Zarkis' work in exploring the AI has already led to a number of fixes and improvements that will make the v1.1 patch, and now he has released his own take on the AI. The Zarkis AI strives to address some of the deficiencies in the Galactic Conquest-mode AI from a production standpoint, so if you just can't wait for the patch, be sure to check this out.
If you're looking for more flash in your tactical experience, look no further than Dal MP's Aesthetics Pack. This pack focuses on making the turbolaser bolts look and feel better and also has an added side-effect of improving performance, so there's really no reason not to try it.
Last but not least, Dane Kiet is organizing a multiplayer Skirmish tournament, which is the perfect opportunity to check out multiplayer on PR if you haven't yet done so. This is especially true for those of you having issues with the AI - you'll be in for a few surprises against a live opponent. The tournament comes in 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 flavors and will commence as soon as there are enough players, so sign up today!

Before i try the AI and effects mods, are they compatible with each other, and do they make any changes that could preclude online play with other users of PR? (ie, should i have seperate mod folders for each of PR, PR+AI, and PR+Effects)
EDIT: Is the version on your CDs the same as that already online, or is it a refined version?

They are fully compatible at the moment, but I'd still leave an unaltered PR mod folder around just for comparison and multiplayer. Before i try the AI and effects mods, are they compatible with each other,
All participants need to have identical files for multiplayer. I don't think any packs or fan-fixes are specified for use in the tournament (correct me if I'm wrong Dane), so you'd need an unaltered copy of PR for that.and do they make any changes that could preclude online play with other users of PR?
Good luck in the conference Phoenix! We're rooting for you. ...now we just have to figure out how we can all steal a copy of that latest CD... *evil chuckle*

No, it's just plain version 1.0. I wish I had had the time to push out a newer version, but unfortunately I didn't (there was more to prepare for than I had initially thought). The mod's always in a state of semi-disarray in between releases - for example, the galaxy is rescaled, but still not wholly reconnected - so it requires some cleanup to become fully functional again.EDIT: Is the version on your CDs the same as that already online, or is it a refined version?
Well, the "main" conference hasn't stared yet, but funny story about that. I found out that LA was hosting a company party at one of the local clubs tonight, so I walked all the way down there... in the rain, but unfortunately there was a guest list, so I couldn't get in. I think it was for the TFU team and a few VIPs, but I doubt the big man himself was there. So I'm a bit soggy, but otherwise undeterred . I got to see a handful of stormtroopers who were in charge of security though, so it was worth it.Talked to LucasArts Reps. Yet?

Best of luck to ya mate. I'm sure their'll be someone interested in someone with your sence of detail. Make sure you don't underexagerate your potential. You have to really advertise for yourself, with all the competiton in the gameing buissnes these days.

Wow I did not expect they would do that.

Half of these forums are off-topic and I should split topics more, but you're right; this one was a total non-sequitur. It's done.

well how's the GDC actually goin? we haven't really heard much about it...Thanks. Yeah, it's still too early to know one way or another. Generally, if you don't make the initial cut, they won't even turn you down; they just say :cool2:nothing. But, uh, not everything has played out yet; I'll just say that.
