Voice Over Suggestions

Great Harlequin
A) Unit built: I will lead the forces of the Laughing God into battle.
B) Taking damage: They are here!
C) Capturing a point: Let's take it for the Laughing God's possession.
D) Loss of morale: They are too many! Fall back to a better position!
E) Recovery of morale: The Laughing God watches over us!
F) Told to move: Come, warriors of the Laughing God!
G) Captured a point: For the glory of the Laughing God!
H) Told to attack: Now my warriors, Attack!
I) Embarking a transport: Quickly, inside!
J) Disembarking: Fan out, prepare to continue the slaughter!

Spirit Walker
(Can you make it have a dry, whispery voice? That would be cool.)
A) Unit built: My service to the Laughing God did not end with death.
B) Taking damage: They attempt my destruction once again.
C) Told to move: I shall seek out the minions of the Great Enemy
D) Told to attack: I shall teach them the experience of death!

Solitaire
A) Unit built: The Great Enemy shall not have my soul with out a fight.
B) Taking damage1: I sense the Great Enemy reaching for my soul.
C) Taking damage2: The Great Enemy approaches!
D) Told to attack1: The Laughing God disrupts even the greatest of the Enemy's schemes.
E) Told to attack2: My soul may be condemned, but my fighting skill is second to none.
F) Told to move: I shall find more warriors for the Ritual.
G) Embarking a transport: Carry me to the fight!
H) Disembarking: The Enemy awaits our arrival.

Death Jester
A) Unit built: I will bring death to them!
B) Taking damage: Who will take my place?
C) Loss of morale: My Cannon is not enough!
D) Recovery of morale: We will bring further destruction to our foe
E) Told to move: Let us find the enemy!
F) Told to attack: Let's see how they like a Shrieker Cannon!
G) Embarking a transport: Take me to a good firing position.
H) Disembarking: Take up firing positions!

Just going to point out that all of those ones in thudos post were my suggestions :blush:

Got some more

Venom
A) Unit built: We take our warriors to the enemy
B) Taking damage: The Harlequins are not safe here!
C) Told to move: Transporting our troupes to dance with the enemy!
D) Told to attack: We will strike swiftly

Mocking Bird
A) Unit built: We fly with the laughing god
B) Taking damage: The Great Enemy strikes against us!
C) Told to move: Take us closer to the enemy
D) Told to attack: The Warriors of the Laughing God need our help!

Jetbike
A) Unit built: We ride into battle
B) Taking damage: They attempt to dismount us!
C) Capturing a point: We will take it for our master
D) Loss of morale: Take us from this fight!
E) Recovery of morale: We will strike back at them!
F) Told to move: We soar through the skies
G) Captured a point: We have taken it
H) Told to attack: We will disrupt their ranks!

FYI.. When submitting voice scripts per unit keep in mind that a faction mod needs a minimum of 3 scripts for some actions. Think about what you do the most with your units in a game: the most numerous actions are:

Idle (can be lumped in with a unit's first creation)
Move
Attack (also can be used for charging)

So think about 2-3 different scripts per action for each action and NOT just one. You do not want a unit saying the same thing over and over again as it gets old for the player real fast.

Use various tonal arrangements then. I'm sure one could be creative about it especially since Necrons don't speak so one could considering using something similar.

Are we going to use the voice acting for the harlequin in the Eldar army for the Choreographer Troupe? Makes sense to me...

If so then we have something for every unit :good:

Well if I can get the current Dark Eldar voice act we have for use in Harlequins then you will have all the Harlies voices done as you like. However, Shin would need to hear how this is turning out as I have no clue what, for example, a Solitaire should sound like?

The Solitaire is damned to eternal torture by Slaanesh and is the most tragic harlequin there is. I would envisage him to talk little, but when he does speak he has a very low voice and talks quite slowly, pauses between words etc.

Also note: can you edit out the bit in the Solitaire entry about Morale, since he should actually be immune to morale (can't remember if he is in the game or not, but he should be)

Really excited to see new activity with this mod. Of all the custom content being made, this is the one I'd love to see completed.

Incidentally, I started to write out a voice set script for my own amusement, some months back when I first played the mod. My take on the Great Harlequin was a bit more playful:

A) Unit built: Enter Harlequin, stage right!
B) Taking damage: Such attention! How... flattering.
C) Capturing a point: Let us dedicate it to Cegorach.
Alt: It's nice, but is it art?
D) Loss of morale: Am I to take my final curtain?
E) Recovery of morale: Ahem. Once more, with feeling.
F) Told to move: Let's get this show on the road.
G) Captured a point: He who laughs last, laughs best.
H) Told to attack: Time to break a leg... or two.
Alt1: Tell me if you've heard this one before...
I) Embarking a transport: My public awaits.
J) Disembarking: Ah, to tread the boards again.
K) Join Squad: I'll guide this motley lot.
L) Selected: Sorry, no autographs.

I started on a few other units, too. Generally, I see them all being pretty oblique in their speech, to reflect the Harlequin's alien take on warfare.

How are we going to do Mimes and the Master Mime since they can't actually speak.....


The idea I had was to use accompanying ditties such as rim-shots, drum-rolls and fan-fares ('ta-daa' etc.) instead. It's probably not too much of a stretch to say Harlequin tech offers musical accompaniments to aid in the troupe's performance.

Couple more to throw in that i'm thinking up on the spot XD (Forgive me if i duplicate any early ones i am in a rush)

Use them on any unit you feel like really, most likely Choreographer Troupe though:

Loss of Morale - My lines slip my mind!
Recovery of morale - ah yes now i remember
Told to Attack - allow me to direct you to your graves
Told to Attack -and... CUT!
Told to Move - Direct me to my performance area
Captured a Point - The stage is set!

Greetings.
Have to say I like the mod and where it's going, and as such I'd like to volunteer as a voice act ;)
And yes, I do in fact, have a decent mike and pro-grade editing soft:P
The question is, where do I send the samples so you guys can decide if you like my take on your warclowns? [I used the lines you have posted here as these fit quite well. Love the spirit walker.]

@Malygris - that would be absolutely bloody awesome! You saw all the voice scripts we have -- we just need Harley-like voices for em. You can PM me your contact info but first try to build some mp3/wavs of what you think would be good Harlequin voices. Dying to see what you come up with!
