Introducing... The Red Alert Mod. A rather ambitious project from CNC Labs that intends to take Red Alert 3 and remake it into the original Red Alert game.

As you can see they've been busy at work and have quite a few different renders to show off including:

First they need to release the mod tools, which probably won't happen until like a year later.

Yeah, did seem a bit harsh

You shouldn't make a red alert remake, make a red alert 2 remake, RA2 was so much better!

Why is it, every time a CnC game comes out, the first mods for it are remakes of the predecessors? Closely followed by other remakes of the same predecessor, citing 'differences of opinion' in how to do things, resulting in neither ever being completed...

Actually there are two versions, one for ZH and the other for RA3.

Dude, most people loathe Generals...and rightly so...

And fyi, Generals was the first full-EA game (From TS-YR they were all WW under EA). From Firestorm onward it was a downward slope. They took away what it meant to be a CNC and left us with characterless, unbalanced, uninteresting twaddle.

RA3 just represents the new cream of the crop in shallow RTS made by the lowest-bidder milk-till-the-cash-cow's-tit-drops-off dev team.

Here's how I envisage your average EA meeting:

CEO: "Right, guys, we're going to make a new game. Which of our cows looks particularly fruity today?"
Project Manager: "Well, the Command and Conquer fans haven't been leeched for awhile..."
CEO: "Haven't you implemented our yearly update policy yet? Surely armies have new characters drafted into their teams, right?"
PM: "Um...no."
CEO: "Curses! Oh well. Start the dev team off immediately!"
PM: "But sir, we need to plan it out-"
CEO: "Nonsense! Just throw some money at the programmers and those retards in your Design department..."
Design Manager: "Um...*slurps up own drool* I, um...resent, um...that, um...remark. *slurp*. Yeap."
CEO: "Yes, Jim, thanks for that. Anyway, a few thousand shiny pennies should motivate them!"
Quality Control: "Just one thing, Boss. The fans hated the last game..."
CEO: "Gary, Gary, Gary...tut tut. You don't understand anything, do you? It has a Command and Conquer logo on it! These people will buy it, and they'll love it."
PM: "Yeah, Gary. Why do you gotta go cramping everyone's style?"
CEO: "All we need to do is tack on some C-List celebrities...or, I know, a couple more porn stars! Yeah, everyone loves porn! Phil?"
PR Manager: "Way ahead of you, Boss. Got Jordan on the horn, she's interested in playing Tanya's sister, Anya. And we've talked Heffner into letting us borrow a few girls for the other leads."
CEO: "And what about product placement?"
PRM: "The Design Team have already designed a Smartie Cannon. And the obligatory Burnout Tank is in there."
PM: "Don't forget the dude from Crysis as the Allies' other hero."
PRM: "Yeah. It's all in there."
CEO: "What about game balance?"
Quality Control: "Ba...lance?"
CEO: "Good show, you said it in under a minute. Okay. Any other business on this masterpiece in the making?"
Copyright Manager: "Yes, Boss. We must make it as prohibitively awful for our suckers- ah, I mean, avid game players and fanboys- uh, fan base to play. We've already contacted Reality Pump about how they did it with Earth: 2160. Forced phone activations over a 1-900 number and three different activation and serial keys. It's genius...so good I got our finance team to buy them out! Then we took their idea, added a bit of SecuRom, a three-install limit and a requirement to be online at all times or else we ban their account and send the FBI party van to their house."
CEO: "Outstanding, Francis! You've really outdone yourself this time."
CM: "Thank you, sir."
PM: "We need a title, Boss."
CEO: "Ah, yes. Call it...Command and Conquer 4...Tiberian Alert! We will give the fans what they've always wanted! A missing link between the two universes! The fans will eat out of our hand!"
Sound Technician: "I have another idea, Boss. Why don't we take some of Klepacki's old stuff, play it over the top of some cats being strangled and an off-key violin, and call it 'Act on Instinct 3?"
CEO: "Fantastic idea! I love it, and so will they, regardless of how much it sucks!"
*Cheers and applause from around the table*
CEO: "Well, I declare this meeting closed. Now let's get started raping this franchise yet more! We will make..."
*Camera zooms in*
CEO: "One hundred beellion dollars! Muahahaha...uahahahaaaa..."
*Other board members start laughing evilly too*

I liked generals well enough... it certainly wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

and Firestorm was an awesome expansion!

And yes i think RA3 could of been better but just cause its made by EA then people are all like

"whinge whinge, Generals is stupid, whinge whinge whinge, RA3 is dumb cause allies are crap, tanya is blonde, spectrum tech is dumb, japan is overpowered, russia is a boring faction, blah blah whinge blah whinge whinge blah, and resource collecting is gay in RA3."

but the mod idea sounds good, just not the people hating EA part
