Edited for Noobness :crazed:
Ok, I'm sorry, I somehow managed to miss the Mapping section of the forums altogether. Let me try to filter out all the noob in this post and get to just the meat. And would somebody please move this over to the Mapping forum for me so it's in the right place.

I don't know about you, but I find it very annoying that when you play a fortress map (Helm's Deep, Minus Tirith, etc.) none of the typical fortress upgrades or any alternatives to those upgrades are available. Granted the fortress maps (hence forth refered to as Citadels to eleviate confusion with the fortress structures) are fairly well fortified and you start with at least one resource building, you're missing things you usually have available like the Gorgonoth Spire, Eagle's Nest, or even just upgrades that reduce the cost of something.

So here's my ideas/suggestions for things to add to the Keep buildings of the citidel maps:

Minus Tirith - Stonework upgrade, munitions upgrade (fire arrows and rubble trebuchet loads), Ivory Tower effect

Minus Morgul - Morgul Sorcery walls upgrade, Darkness ability, something green that has the Doom Pires effect (although maybe even faster revive of WitchKing), Morgul Spire (giant green vortex of bad juju that has large radius fear effect around keep and demoralizes all enemies on map for a duration)

Helm's Deep - Horn of Helm Hammerhand (boosts all allies on map and grants Theodin's charge effect to all cavalry on map for a duration)

Isengard - Normal upgrades that reduce cost of buildings and unit upgrades, Palantir ability, Isengard tower ({maybe only when Sarumon is present if that's possible} ability to summon freezing rain, blizzard, lightning, or something anywhere on map)

That's it for now. I don't have any ideas for the other citidels yet, but I'll edit this post if I come up with somethin. :p

I always forget. Beta 4.6 never went public. I started to put it in place, not just faction specific citadel powers but also AI, though it got finished for only a few.

Not a bad idea. I would suggest using only one special ability per citadel. (just so defending is not too easy) Though I do like the idea of having the Horn of Helm at Helms Deep and stuff like that.
Faster build times for certain heroes would be a good idea too. (Aragorn comes faster at Minas Tirith, Saruman at Isengard, Theoden at Helms Deep, Dain at Erabor etc.)

Perhaps a little bit of advertisement to my map: http://forums.revora...6-minas-morgul/

It is a Minas Morgul fortress map, and I am planning to do fortress upgrades. However the custom upgrades like: Morgul Wall Sorcery would require modding. Something I might think about later for the map.

However, fortress expansion plots will be available on the map for Minas Morgul.

Thanks for the ideas and I will definitely try to make Minas Morgul a good fortress map. :shiftee:

Hey Naz! I got an email out of the blue the other day saying this thread had been replied to, and was VERY happy to discover new activity on the forum.
I'm really excited about your decision to revamp and continue SEE!
I'm pretty shot for time now (I've had two kids since this mod started), but I'll try to keep up on things.
I may even pitch in some if I do find some time as my coding skills have improved since last I posted.
Best of luck to you in the Director's Cut revamp!

Should I take your reply as agreement with these ideas I had two years ago?
