Wow. And I considered myself something of a buff on this up to now :p
I assume I speak for at least someone who isn't me when I say, what? Give us a clue - which mythos is it? I'm guessing Norse from that name, but still. Is it some kind of sword?
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
There are 10 kinds of people in this world: Those who understand binary and those who don't.
FZM and Vort don't do tag wrestling...but if they did, they'd probably be the worst tag-wrestlers in the world.

Oh, I love the Norse mythos!

Naglfar is a boat. It is said to be maid of fingernails and toenails... of the dead! It is supposed to carry an army of giants, or Jotunn, into battle during Ragnarok.

What (possibly who) was Nóatún?

I think Nóatún was a place, but I'm not sure. I think it was something to do with the sea.

By the way, I fixed the permissions settings again so we can all post in here again. FZM went and did everything the hard way....

Going back to my pyramids question for a second:
You are wrong about the slaves thing. They were not slaves. Labor on the pyramids and stuff was a form of 'tax', where farmers in the off season would work for their god and king(the pharaoh)

So technically they weren't slaves (which is the thing i was hoping to trick someone up on ;))

And without cheating i dont know that much about this stuff like the norse boats and whatnot.
Although i do know a few things about various mythologies, most of the time i need confirmation for internet searches to confidently state my... statements.

and im pretty sure Nóatún is the place ruled by a sea god of the norse mythology
(*searches*, yep, it says: "In Norse mythology, Nóatún (Old Norse "ship-enclosure"[1]) is the sea-side abode of the god Njörðr."... and thats all it says :p)

ok, what were the names of the nine 'worlds' in the Norse mythology
(remember, no cheating  )

@ Taralom: Not what I was hoping for.

so? you can't prove me wrong! I won!

@SWG: let's take a look at my statement

In the end you would have farmers, peasants and foreign slaves working on the

I think I've got the farmers covered... peasants too.

In the same breath you said:

the pyramids were built by slaves

direct quote right there

and that is wrong, they were not technncally slaves they were tax pays, but whatever, no use arguing any points, that question is over

Hmmm... I remember Alfheim, but I'll have to think about the others.

And yes, slaves did build the pyramids. Not by themselves, but in tandem with the peasants. The Egyptians, contrary to what you seem to be saying, actually did have foreign slaves to do a modicum of work for them.

For the norse myth-worlds, I can think of a few without searching form them.

-Midgard
-Asgard
-Nifelheim
-Alfheim
-Jotunheim (correct me if I'm wrong.)

Can't think of any others. But then, I might also be off.

Asgard, Midgard... Don't know any more...

SWG = pwnd ;)
nah, I did say that they were totally built by slaves, but in the same post I said that they were built by peasants and farmers too. But let's stop with that question, since it's not totally clear who built it.

Vanaheim, Hel, Dvergar and Muspell are the four that Vithar missed out.

EDIT: Next question: what were the names of the parents of Oedipus, and where were they from?

Jocasta of Corinth, and Laius of ... that one town with the sphinx in front of it. ;) *Maybe it was Corinth, and Jocasta was from somewhere else...*

EDIT: I remember; it was Laius of Thebes! My turn...

What were the names of Oedipus's sons and daughters?

New question time! Also new rule: if you know for certain you've got the question right, you set a new one. If you don't know for sure, someone who does can set the new question.

Q: According to Norse mythology, how many Norns were there?

3? The Valkyries are also Norns, but not the norns...

I think I can name three off the top of my head. Skuld, Urdr, and Verdandi?

I'm fairly certain that's right, so I'll set a new question.

Who was Forseti?
