Well, realistically, their units could be more like the necromancer from Angmar. One rider with a squad of horses around him. Then he could kill off those horses to regain some health.

That's a little complex though. Also, once their actually in the battle, they probably wouldn't have all those horses with them.

Their spare horses were mostly for baggage, and occasionally, if their warhorse was killed, as a replacement.

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

In-game they don't really need to be included.

Mongolians would be hard to make, considering most of there awesomeness was centered around Genghis Khan's and Kublai Khan's strategic brilliance.

Most of their strength was in their Hit and Run tactic very little change was made to this formula.
I think it will be important for them to ride and fire, thankfully there's a tutorial for that.

Why don't you reset the poll without Rome? It would probably be more fair.

Spartans wouldn't be part of a Greek faction I'd think since they were enemies most of them time.

OK we have a tie Vikings and Greece next vote can decide it. :q:

IMO the Greeks and Romans should be counted as one, and chosen for the following reasons:

  • The mod would be more interesting, if it had a central theme, i.e. some historic battles, which means it should be restricted in time and space (geographical area)
  • Following this logic, the choice of enemies for the vikings would be limited to peoples living in Northwestern Europe 700 to 1100 A.C. So, the "Viking Theme" would have less options for expanding the theme than:
  • "The Greek/Roman Theme" - Greeks and romans are rather similar to each other in a number of ways, and both the span of time (roughly 500 B.C. to 500 A.C.) as well as the choice of many other possible 'historic' enemies (in the Mediterranean area), would give more options for the second and third factions etc. (for those dreaming of a multi-faction AoEII-style game based on the Sage-engine *))
So, the way I count it ... the vikings are down by 2.

Why don't you reset the poll without Rome? It would probably be more fair.

Good idea. I voted 'Null Vote' - Given such a new poll, I'll vote for the Romans! :xd:

*) note

For the love of god, just ...

... make the whole thing simple in theory, but deep in design is what I'd suggest.

Very good remarks! I agree!

Whatever you do do not mix the greeks with the romans, they're just too different from each other it wouldn't make any sense :thumbsupsmiley:

I'd like to play with a good roman faction once :thumbsupsmiley:

Spartans should be part of Greece, otherwise people would ask where the Spartans are, and we shouldn't make a Sparta faction.

I think we should decide what will and will not be in a faction after we have decided to work on that faction.

This is true, but don't get too far ahead. I guess I was a little too extreme when I said that... There are points to both sides, and discussion of the faction attributes could be very helpful. I think we should try not to go into the details, though...
