I realise compared to the original model it looks alot more clunky, but I'm trying to keep it at a reasonable level i.e. within the unit constraints, the heroes themselves average at around 4,000 polys, as did the old clone trooper, I realise also that there wasn't much lag with the old clone trooper but I do want to be careful as most people will not have a top of the range computer. Even though BFME2 is an old game, my computer still has problems with it at times, and I'm running a 512mb Graphics Card, 3.4ghz processor and 1.5gigs memory. I can smooth it alittle and see how we go from there, if it doesn't look right we can always go with the old one.

With some photoshop magic, here are some changes that I think should be done to the model.
You gotta say, the original one looks sorta bulimic, sometimes it's better to "hear" one's subjective perception ;)

The changes are marked in the image. I think the main flaw was the pectoral's square shape, in my edit I've used a pentagonal shape (actually a square surface followed by a triangle surface on the side, notice the shade to present it's angulation).

Cool cool, I'll give those changes a try, it does look better and shouldn't be too difficult to add the changes.

The animations look really bad though

The moving anim looks as if he was limping with one leg, the second he doesn't even move his torso and legs at all. The third is the most acceptable, though he should move his hips and legs a little.

I think the first is okay, cause that's just how he walks, but I agree about the second.

Ya the second to me, is the weakest of the anims, but it looks all right in game when blended with the other anims

I'm here, just it's going to be more difficult for me to model from now on considering my computer got busted up, so all the modelling aspects will be on a per model basis, then once we have successfully placed the model ingame, tweaked anims and powers etc, I'll move onto the next, at the moment, it's a bit ridiculous cos I'm using a laptop with a microscopic screen.

Well that sounds unpractical heheh
Hope it doesn't give you much trouble (or that you can get your good comp up and running again :p)
