I just thought that since every faction is getting walls, that there should be some additions. isengard and the elves should get arrow towers and ballistas (i think its awkward for ents to stand on walls, so can't u use the model from the elven bombardment ship)

also, i know you wanted to give goblins walls, but why not make real ones out of scrap metal instead of the wood fence? in the hobbit it said they loved to make all sorts of cruel things, and certainly had the capablity to build walls. i think the look should be based off the rusted scrap-metal look of the fortress and arrow towers. there should then be arrow towers and a seige unit on the wall (reskinned mordor catapult?)

Yes, I have always wanted towers and cats for Isen and elves... I have no idea what EA was thinking when they left that from Isen... the most industrial faction of them all... So we will do that, and the elven ship cat is a good idea. If not, it will probably be the fortress ents...

For Moria, the walls are ok, but I agree, it would be cool with better ones. Scrap metal walls is a nice thought... I'll talk to my structure modeler Digi_byte and see if he's up for it, once Rhun's done ^_^

i read somewhere that the angmar walls from rotwk are being reskinned into scrap metal walls for moria.... the arrow towers on the walls would still be goblin arrow towers right, not the angmar ones (they look weird), and there would probably be cave trolls or a reskinned mordor catapult on the walls instead of those troll stone-trowers right?

Not sure what will happen exactly to Moria walls as they won't be changed for this beta...

if not for this beta, then for 4.8 it would be nice if moria got reskinned angmar walls. they would fit goblins well, and the troll stone-thrower could stay.

Just imagining how awesome it would be to SEE goblin battle towers on a wall is getting me excited. As for a siege weapon since the gobbos love their poison so much couldn't some sort of poison munitions that poison all units near area of impact go on the walls?

And for some reason I'm seeing a reskinned trebuchet working well for the goblins, or something similar, don't ask me why, but something like a trebuchet seems like it should work well for the gobbos as long as it has a rusty cruel look.

I'm thinking not, although the ability for mountain giants to do that would be sweet, as their is a concept drawing of a mountain giant holding a cave troll over his head preparing to throw him.

I personally would like to see the ability of placing units on top of the walls for all factions.

Not sure if that's something you've considered or not, but I would be thrilled if that was in the plans for the new version of the mod.

Unfortionately that requires very broad walls, in BFME1 fortress style. Those won't fit as free buildable camp walls.

There was another mod that may have walkable, BfME II style walls.

Did you happen to experience it in gameplay to see how it worked and if it's worth looking into for this mod?

Which mod was it?

No I have not played with it. There is this image posted by TPW, the walls are not in the newest version for the public.

SEE-DC will have more, larger and better fortress maps to play on than vanilla.

Ah yes, I have tried that mod a while back, but sadly it was very incomplete and not worth another try. To be honest, this SEE mod was the only one I consistently played.

It's sad that TRUE base building RTS' are no longer being made, and the ones that are, are terrible.  In my opinion, BFME2 was the last good base building RTS made - but that was in 2006...8 years ago!  I haven't played this game in a very long time because I'm itching for an RTS that meets my expectations for this day in age; which is realistic graphics (not cartoons), high speed animations, and intensity. Most are going mobile, so they're cartoon-y, extremely limited, and lame; the rest have little funding or quality - so they are not worth even trying.

Sorry for the rant, just had to get it out.

What I'm trying to say is, I am really looking forward to the new additions and tweaks you all are making to change this game into what it should have been and should be now-a-days. If you continue to do it right, you'll fill the void of MANY hungry base building RTS players. Keep it up, I'm a fan!

Have you already decide how are going to be the walls of the elfes? Because I think it miss something, maybe a tower or something. And to the goblins?

Elves will keep the walls they have, but we wil definitely add an Arrow Tower. This faction, if any, should have such a thing =) Goblins will most likely keep the simple fence they have now. We added animation for the buildup. Looks great =)

Nice. Ok. But I think elves should have at least towers because they are really unprotected.
