I like it now that Shelob can climb impassable terrain like huge rocks and steep hills, and i think that the goblin swordsmen, archers, pikemen, and spiderlings should be able to do that as well (reminds me of the goblins scuttling down the pillars in moria). it would add a unique dimension to the moria faction. other units such as wargs and the heavier goblins (goblin guard) would not be able to do this. what do you think?

edit: this isn't to do with the moria faction, but i think that gollum should have this ability as well.

Spiderlings now have it as well. I don't think Goblins should for balance reasons. Only specialized units, and only a few at that, should be able to climb those.
And true, Gollum would be really suited for this sort of thing, but what would happend if he got killed on a steep cliff, eh? Unless i find a way to make the OneRing tumble to the closest accessible place on the map this won't make it into the mod.

The idea is rather cool ideed, but due to the number of goblins, it would be rather annoying not being able to stop them, when they flood over your walls :thumbsupsmiley:

Gollum can scale walls though, but not impassable terrain =) Just like Corsairs

EDIT: we could have as similar problem though, in case Shelob has the Ring, crosses some impassable terrain and gets killed...

She can't, as far as i know. Or at least she shouldn't, just like not being able to pick up treasure. She's only interested in food, as far as gollum tells us. :xcahik_:

Technically it's easy to remove the ring/treasure-seeking and picking-up ability. I'll check if i left anything in her codes, since i have to remove it for the spiders as well. And please lets just stop calling those big fucking things spiderlings. They are smaller than shelob, but that's it. Bigger than anything being called a spider that i ever encountered! :thumbsupsmiley:

they could be called "giant spiders".... because they were actually called that in the hobbit i believe
i miss goblins climbing over walls - it gave them a unique edge.

Oh, they still can! They just can't go to inaccessible areas like steep cliffs, the ocean etc..

Yeah, my reply wasn't really accurate... I meant over rocks, mountains, water... but I was thinking of the walls, so... yeah *too tired... too many topics... to many questions* lol

Yes, spiders shouldn't be able to cary the ring... Probably not warg/wolf packs, either.

Done (for exclusive animal units and monsters). :xd:
Btw, i'll have a look at extending it to picking up treasure as well. And although i am sure that dragons like those trinkets, i don't think they would ever part with it for the good of the war effort. :p

well i don't know... creatures like spiders should still be able to pick up treasures and the ring. if i recall correctly, ungoliant was a spider, and she coveted the silmarils. i'm not sure how she would have been able to hold them, but it proves that spiders can take treasure as well.

True. But nobody would see the treasure again, much less use it.
I remember that gollum mentioned shelob only sucked out the juice and left everything else (which is how he was going to get the ring). Sounds reasonable. I guess Mama Ungo was the exception. :xd:

I could've sworn she started out as a person or something like that... maybe I need to go read the silmarillion again, with some better comprehension skills :p

Very intellegent and powerful being, taking the form of a spider, but apparently being able to use other forms. Mother of Shelob, IIRC.

Isn't it possible to make them invincible while crossing impassable terrain ? or is it possible to make them, sorta like, collect and hold damage, then release it when they get out of the impassable terrain. Example : Shelob has the one Ring and is climbing over some impassable terrain, but has very low health. You use archers and do enough damage to kill him, but he doesn't die there, shelob dies as soon as she gets to the passable terrain. (maybe Boromir's last stand codes could help).

Or you could keep it the way it is now, which is pretty fine, instead of doing that much work
