Modular Taskforce Cruisers vs. Hajen-class Fleet Tenders

Unfortunately someone from WEG pegged the MTC with the obscenely low cost of 2.5m. At 1150 meters, it must be made out of cardboard or something for that price; it's a huge outlier. To compare, that's seven times cheaper than a 300-meter Star Galleon and 1m less than a CR90. I'm not really sure what to do with that... should I just assume it's off by a factor of 10? That would make it around 4k (I added tons of mission modules to the first price to double it).

Hmm, aren't you forgetting tactical population cost though? Or is that never a factor in a match? The Hajen takes up 4 and the MTC takes up 10. The MTC is also pretty defensive and weak, while the Hajen hauls and gets Perfect Repair.

Like I said, having two or so MTCs guarantees you lose nothing. One heal fills up about 2/3 of the Strike-class Medium Cruiser's hull bar. Imagine that times two. And then when you turn your firepower on the MTC, it heals because there's a second one present. It's better than the Perfect Repair ability, since it's constant and requires no cast, and has no limit. Maybe decrease the heal by half or so, or decrease the heal interval?

That 10-20 points to guarantee that nothing dies is definitely worth it.

Right, I'll play with the heal ability numbers.

I will have to dig out my WEG books, but I think the low cost on the MTC was because that was witout the interchangable modules. The mission specific modules varied as did the final cost.

Not enough though. The cheapest MFM was under 500k, which is nothing. The whole module, which is roughly the length of a Victory-class, is less than the cost of two B-wings.

Well then, in this case WEG must simply be wrong. I'm sure you'll be able to think of a more realistic cost. Possibly a longer build time too. I am a little more sympathetic towards Tropical Bob's stance after facing a MTC with accompanying Strike Cruisers and Bayonets that did a good job of damaging two Mon Cal cruisers while taking essentially zero damage themselves.

Try 10 Y-wing squadrons dumping a full volley off on a Strike Cruiser or some other similarly sized ship, only to have it all heal instantly.

To add my two cents in here:
Perfect Repair is extremely powerful with a group of Hajens. Micro-intensive, but since you can repair while it's invulnerable, it's very effective. Regardless, both MTCs and Hajens are amazingly powerful.
Y-wing is devastating in groups against slower capital ships and makes good fighter support with the quad ions.
Golan: I actually find these underpowered. They last a long time, but that really doesn't help as much as you might think as it doesn't have anywhere near the firepower to defend itself against anything larger than a light cruiser. I had to give them shiny new HDTLs, HDTIs, HAPTs, and HACMs before I was satisfied with them.

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

Interdictor ranges seem a little small as well. Sure, you can't bring in ships close to the interdictor, but they'll come in close enough. I wouldn't necessarily double them, but maybe 50% increase or so.
