Mutliplayer problem

Hi all
I have a problem with the multiplayer of Contra 007.I wanted to play with a friend contra but when he opened a server and i want to join, it says that i have a different version of the game , but why? When i played with him earlier , it works with no problems. but after a long time we want to play the multiplayer but now its a different version?
please help

Have you guys installed the mod properly? Is there any other INI file in your folder? Did you install and update properly? A slight different can render you unable to play.

Did you play it over LAN? I know that it isnt posible to play contra online, and it will give a similar error.

The files are all the same and I played contra 007 with a friend in the online mode earlier

Online? As in, Generals online? Or as in in the LAN lobby?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Contra.

yeah it does that sometimes. generals online does work with contra but nevertheless it's one of the most buggiest things ive ever encountered. shame to EA since generals was / is such a good game, sucks that it has to be so buggy x.x

It is possible to play Contra online, I have done it several times before with a friend of mine. However, on Hamachi, there are other people who have Contra while there are none who have Contra online, so that is why Hamachi is better.

Oh, I thought EA would go balistic on changed files. My fault.


I switched to Hamachi because no-one had Contra online, and I was getting a "Game Mismatch" error more often.

P.S. CnC doesn't want Command and Conquer 4 to be modded because they made it so you have to be connected to the internet, so if you change a file it automatically patches it. I don't think they never minded the modding of Zero Hour though.

Yeah, ZH is pretty much made with open source, and they let us be. Friend of mine (who was asked to come work with google) told me that modding community is good, because it recruits new coders to the bigger compagnies

I wish that they would allow modding of CnC 4, I do not know why they suddenly went to trying to prevent modding. That is the only reason I did not buy it. I like games that can adapt by mods being created. That's how ZH has lasted so long, by all the mods!! I guarantee you that CnC 4 will not last as long as ZH did, for there are no mods allowed for it!!

I do agree that older C&C games have been played until these days due to mods.

Also, I dont think they mind us when we mod C&C4, its more because of it being fully online. This is what they've done to prevent illegal downloading.

They didn't even release a World builder?!?!?! Creativity in new CnC games is dead. Someone should make a home-made mod tool such as a FinalBig type program for CnC4 that mods it AFTER you start the game and it does the file-check thing, then when you exit it saves your mod to a folder to be inserted in the game next time you use it, AFTER it does the file-check. Like, You can open the program and mod the game as it is running, thus by-passing the file-check.

(Someone could make good money off this if they sold it ;) )

I think C&C4 has Worldbuilder but no mod (much like KW). I might have play the game if there are no always online stuff, which is highly irritating in a country far from USA and with terrible international gateway like Thailand.
