Very good skin.

I was talking gameplay wise Nazgul ;). Are you gonna make them like Berserkers, or keep them the way they are...

Eldarion is a real talent , never thought he can really pull out such a good skin ,but as you can see , the only thing really stopping showing it's quality was the model . ;)

Sorry about the spear mapping ... Haven't noticed .... ;)

Val fixed the mapping of the pike this morning, so all that remains for this unit to be considered all done, is the enabling of NRM ("Normal Maps") or "shine" as I call them myself (What the friggin heck is a normal map anyways). The NRM ads real shine/reflective light to the model, so I thought that should be nice for all units in SEE wearing shiny metal (Gondorians, a few Rohirrim, some dwarven units and certain elven units). I like adding these final final touches with rather great impact ;) Atm, Val's 3DSM seems to crash though, when he works with enabling NRM maps, so I'll ask RG to have a look at it when he's got the time. With a little shine, this unit will truly shine! ;)

@Val: You're amazing
@Naz: You're team has been greatly blessed.
Btw, some of the heroes should be given the "shine":
Gondor: Boromir and Faramir (if given armor upgrade)
Aragorn(his shoulder plates)
Pippin(citadel upgrade)
Rohan: Theoden, Eomer
Lothlorien: Elrond, Glorfindel, Haldir
Erebor: Gloin or King Dain?
Mordor: Mollock, Witch King's mask and shoulder plates
Isengard: N/A
Moria: N/A
Rhun/Harad(r we still adding them?) Easterling King
Thx

Normal maps add a whole heck of a lot more then just "shine" ;)

And in fact, they show details much better on rough surfaces rather than metal. It's just the way they appear in BFME.

What the friggin heck is a normal map anyways

www.lmgtfy.com

Anyway, they look great, good job Eldarion and Val. I would say that the sand-colored skirt needs some work to be on par with the rest of the skin though, maybe a stitched fabric texture? And maybe a little bit of dirt and mud at the bottom fringe.

I'll see what I can do about that...

Here's Val's next project, the "normal" Gondor Soldier - swordsmen first. Guess spearmen's up next, and finally the Citadel Guard ;)
The helmet is scratch made, and based on his helmet for the Fountain Guard. Shoulders are CaH, remapped with Eldarion's skins. However, I forgot to tell him about the gear we already have (from TheDeadPlayer aka Clement) so it accidently got rigged with vanilla sword and shield =p

So this model will get:
- TDP's sword (and spear for the spearmen) + the new sword sheeth textures...
- CaH shield
and preferably also:
- CaH arm guards
- CaH leg guards
...with these skins naturally.

Btw, perhaps you could do something about the somewhat wide/big face Val? It looks a bit squeezed in there and he's got a chin that would make Jay Leno look weak, hehe ;) Maybe you could also make a convex shape by the nose, to fill out the gap to the nose guard and simulate a nose that way, and noone will notice the helmet has no inside, like the other one does... Or even better, make the inside too and the head could be separate =)

Yes the face is a problem, but also if you're going to use modeled-on pauldrons, remove the pauldrons in the texture beneath it. Looks bad, plus theres some nasty stretching going on.

Also, I suspect that the face stretching problem is due to the fact that the helmet is still in the texture for the head to be one piece (you can see a bit of the nose guard thingy on the face in the second picture) So just making a full head texture and the Helmet separate will solve the problems there. But I suspect Val already knows all this ;)

Also I think the neck is a bit too thick.

YEah I forgot to add the part about the texture...

Val, if you could set up one texture for the gear, and have another (copy) for the body, I can reskin it to be only chain mail under the details/gear...

I am a bit confused on what you have done to the things you have shown us ;). Like did you polish the skin, or add CAH parts (to the tower guards).

Well if you cant see it, I guess there's no point in me explaining it more then I have, cause I guess the difference isn't that big to you ;p...

I havent done that much, it's Val's work and Eldarion's skins, except for minor details (once again described before). And I find it to be stunning. Later on, I'll post comparisons to the EA models...

Awesome, just change the face(which you will do), change the sword to the movie-like prop( like the ones you used in 4.5:)), add the normal maps, and(randomly) you should re name the topic to "Gondorians-polishing";)
Btw, will the Gondor Knights, Rangers, Archers, and those dudes that man the trebuchets get a polishing??

Halt Halt , I'v been away . Let me explain myself . ;)

The Gondor Soldier is a WIP , I HAD modified the model after Naz got it . ( added few other CAH parts and removed the texture beneath them ).
Yes I know it's face sucks and yes , getting a new head is a good idea .I'll make another texture file for the gear if you wish , it should go easier this way.

It's hard to work with a model you really HATE . ;)

:ninja: I love SEE! this mod is so awesome!

but enough of that... these skins are great, as has been said before just a lil' tweaking and they will be perfect.

Im so excited I really hope 4.# can be released soon so I can ignore the enemies attacking my base, and zoom in and admire the new skins.
