Yes, newb question:

How would one remove the timer from a pre-summoned unit in Worldbuilder (BFME1) such as the Balrog or AoTD.
I understand a map.ini must be used, but I haven't been able to create the correct script in the ini for it to work.

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need a script, you'll just need a map.ini that edits the Balrog/AotD/whatever's code. I think you have to edit or remove the 'lifetime', one of the coders would probably be able to help you more.

Yes, I realize that.
"I haven't been able to create the correct script in the ini for it to work."

I looked it up before and all I got was:

Object MordorBalrog
RemoveModule ModuleTag_LifetimeUpdate

End

I'm completely new to this so I don't know what I'd be missing.
Would any coder be so kind as to help? :)

And to avoid any confusion, this is for a unit that's been already placed on the map in worldbuilder, not summoned through a power.

Object MordorBalrog
    RemoveModule ModuleTag_LifetimeUpdate
    End
End
Try that in your map.ini

Hmmm... nope, timer remains. I do feel silly for forgetting and only ending the body.

Is it the "script" that's the problem right now?
Or is it possibly how I made the map.ini? Is it really just; 1. Create a notepad document, name it "map.ini", 2. Fill in.?
Because I sort of suspect the game isn't reading the file...

That's all you need to do to create one, yes. There's a blank template in the downloads section if you're still unsure, or you could copy one from an existing map.

By the way, a map.ini is going to affect all balrogs, regardless of whether they've been summoned or placed there by you. If you're hoping to have both timed balrogs and a permanent one, you might have to do things differently.

I tried copying one from another map as suggested and replaced the contents with the balrog "script", but it remains ineffective.
And, though that puts a damper on things, I'll make up for the absurdness of a permanent AoTD with other "anti-advantages".

I'm honestly lost on what would work here... any more suggestions? :)
