It's a Spectre!

Really, this section is more or less as dead as can be. What happened since we left? Did everyone just jump off a cliff while we weren't watching?

I reproduced and evolved to the next stage in my life, wherein I only have time to post about why I cannot post.

We've all gotten very busy. We post when we can.

You all say this like the RP section being dead is a bad thing
Hostile is a cunt.

Thought I'd have that here to save time.

Thanks for your contribution, Caspa, but I think we'll take it from here.

Spectre, sadly this is inevitable when we all came to certain important points in our life at once. I've been spending my time researching and writing a 10'000 word dissertation as I'm in my third year of university, and FZM is now working two jobs so has very little time and other things to spend it on. SWG's town got invaded by the sea not so long ago, and I'm not sure how well he's been doing since, and as for the others, they all have their excuses.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Oh, I've been fine in terms of floods. I started uni though, so I've been getting quite a lot of assignments.

For example, this quite aptly sums up the last two days:

(programming assignment, trying to get my lerpColor coding to work properly)

Still, i've managed to make replies when new posts are made in the Arsencia topic I'm part of. So I feel I'm atleast still fulfilling my obligations there. But yes, its not very active. Still, real life comes first, and as nice as it is to have a good role play we all have our priorities.

I think most of what happened is that the people who once constituted Revora's RPG Guild have grown up some, and are no longer intelligent but lonely teenagers with little to do but write. I know that I don't have the time any more to post as frequently as I did when, for instance, Vortigern had just started Arsencia.

True that. I'm a lot less lonely than I was before, even if I still do fit those criteria... But now that I have a real job, and a musical, and all sorts of stuff...

If I were to propose a new RPG 'verse here, what are the prospects of getting a full and active memberbase going?

Or would I be probably better off starting my own forum up elsewhere?

Unfortunately, I dont think you would have much luck with a new RPG here.
I'd love to say go for it, but it seems even the old favourite(Arsencia) has grinded to a halt. Everyone is too busy or just doesn't feel like RPing any more and have thus disappeared :/

If you have people willing to do it, so that it's not just the 3 of us who are RP core members here, it might work.

Otherwise...

Much as I'd love something to perk things up around here, I don't think I'd be a part of it. I just don't have the time or energy any more, and given that I'm supposed to be running things, that's not ideal. What did you have in mind, Ash?

Perhaps we could recruit new members for the Ziggurat of Doom?

Hey, if you can do it then go right ahead. There's already been recruitment and friend-calling attempts in the past. As you can see it wasn't hugely successful in the long run.

But if you can get a bunch of people in than it could well liven up this place once more. The question is where are these newcomers going to come from? Revora doesn't seem like a place with many willing recruits(those few that are are already here)

What kind of 'good new RPG' are we considering here? (I know I'm two weeks late to the party here, but hey Revora, it's been a while.) Because I have a thought if anyone's interested. I don't know how workable it would be, but I'm thinking at least reasonably. In summary, it'd be a world in which pokemon are real, and all the realistic effects of that are taking place. So there'd be forest fires caused by angry pokemon, a perennial storm belt where Zapdos (the big old electric legendary bird) flies, migratory schools of Gyarados, and pokemon getting their throats ripped out and dying when they fight instead of just KO'ing. Also, it would only be the original 150, because I don't know much about the rest. Anyone else think that could be fun?

Only if you could catch them. Or raise them from babies to obey you. I'm thinking that real pokemon would be easy to domesticate, but only if you get them when they're young. Otherwise they're wild animals, and wild animals don't make good pets. And you'd have to catch them with big fuck-off chains or something, because poke balls don't make any kind of sense.

Hey, a thought on this: which way do you think would be better to do evolutions?
1) There's no such thing and they just grow into their 'evolved' forms. So a charmander would be the baby, a charmeleon the adolescent (which would probably have little wing-stubs growing out of its back) and a charizard the adult form, and they would grow continuously until they reached adulthood.
2) They do evolve, but it takes maybe a couple of months during which time they hibernate and make themselves some kind of protective cocoon in which to grow up. So your charmeleon (for consistency's sake) would, at a certain stage of its life, start pining for hibernation, and you could stop it but that would piss off your charmeleon no end, and eventually it would find a place it liked and build itself a nest in which to sleep and evolve, then a couple of months later you'd come back and your charizard would emerge from the cocoon. You should probably also bring it some food at that point. I imagine in this scenario most professional trainers would have an 'evolution chamber' kind of room in their houses, probably in the basement.

If you can think of any other alternatives, feel free to share.

Anyway, I was considering this today and came up with two suggestions for plot-line:
1) We RP as a police retrieval team tasked with rounding up dangerous wild pokemon and either killing them or bringing them in.
2) We RP as a new group of trainers looking to turn pro and get some strong pokemon of our own. It works best as a team because if you come across a particularly strong wild pokemon (remember, they won't level up in the wild the deeper in you get, they'll just be randomly tough) and then you can fight as a team. None of this one-on-one bollocks for the wild, save that for the League.

I also spent a while imagining a beedrill hive. It'd be fucking enormous and probably obscenely deadly.

Any other suggestions for what this world would be like are welcome. In fact, fuck this thread, I'm'a go set up a proper thread for this to see who's interested.
