Hi there. Im writing you here because you was not able to reply to my numerous questions on the moddb page so I hope that it will be much more easy for you to answer me there. Also this post will contain suggestions and bug reports at the same time so I decided to post it in the general discussion because it is not belonging to the suggestion or bug report sections of this forum only. So here are my posts from the moddb:


"Hi there. Im back with another list of questions:

1. I noticed that barloz-class medium freighter cannot use concussion missile launchers but his description is saying that he is equiped with them so now I dont know if it is a bug or the description is wrong?

2. Freighters are super cheap in the skirmish ( didnt tried GC right now ). Is it intentional? Im asking because this way I can continually spam this type of units over and over again and outnumber the enemy right from the start. So I think that the prices of this units should be a little more balanced to prevent spam.

3. Im really against the idea that the skipray blastboats are available for some factions right from the start because these units are too good to be available immediately without the need to reach higher tiers. The problem is that these units are good against everything in large numbers so when I will spam this unit over an over again it will grant me a sure victory against nearly anything that the enemy send on me and yes I know what Im talking about because I tried this "strategy" countless times and it "always" worked for me. This should be really fixed so this type of units will be available only when I ( or enemy ) reach higher tiers and not right from the start so the enemy ( or I ) will be able to more effectively counter this type of units.

4. Boba Fetts freighter shields are recharging VERY slow. It takes him a literally half-hour to fully recharge them ( no kidding ). Also his seismic charge ability have very small area of effect radius while the fx effect is really huge in the comparison with the actual aoe damage. So can you please fix this ability so the visual effect will match the aoe damage?

5. Heroes leading fighter squadrons are not using call for wingmen ability automatically and I cant use this ability manualy either because it is push out by the other often trivial abilities like hunt for enemies. So can you please remove the hunt for enemies ability from all the fighter, bomber and freighter units because in my opinion this ability is doing more bad then good an honestly it is quite useless. There are already plenty of command options ( defend, attack, attack move...) so why is this ability even there. Also as I said it will often push out more important abilities like the aformentioned call for wingman and other more important abilities. So please remove this ability from these units.

6. Same problem is with the sensor jamming ability. Units which have this ability push out by the other abitities ( Singularity SD for example and other hero units ) cannot use it automaticaly as it should be. Im 100% sure that I never saw them use it.

7.Another problem is with the power to weapons and power to engines ability of some heroes which is also push out. I never saw them to use it.

8. Can you please fix the targeting priority of the tractor beams because when I switch them to auto and the ship yard or fighter factory is nerby then the ships which have access to this ability will waste it on this structures instead to target the enemy ships nerby.

9. Chimaera and Recondite description texts are missing and the Chimaera proton beam is bugged because it have unlimited duration. It will fire nonstop until the enemy ship will be destroyed and will deal absolutely no damage to the space structures. Also the PB of the Recondite is unable to target any space structures while the all other ships which have access to this ability can use it on them.

10. I noticed that Palpatines Majestic SD have force corrupt ability BUT it isnt working. When I click on the shortcut of this ability then nothing will happen.


11. Can you please incorporate the "leech shields" ability to this mod which some of the zann consortium ships were using because it was one of the best abilities in the FoC ( in my opinion ) and it is a little sad that this ability is no longer present in this mod ( or at least I didnt noticed ). And if you do then give it to the faction other then the empire because they have access to the most powerfull abilities in the game like SSDs super laser or SD proton beams and plenty of abilities reducing enemy ships accuracy and firepower so giving them also this ability would be a complete overkill."

Thanks very much for signing up to the forums! Questions from outside are good, don't worry. They help us gauge player reactions to the mod much better. I'll answer some of these when I have more time, check back on this post later this evening.

1. They're getaway launchers... rear-firing.

2. They're build-capped in Skirmish v1.2.

3. They're quite expensive.

4. Heroic modifiers in space only apply to shields/hull/damage, not recharge rates.

5. They do now.

6. Do now.

7. I could auto-fire PtW, but it is a trade-off between shield recharge and speed.

8. Tractor beams no longer target structures.

9. I don't think this is an issue anymore.

10. It's gone.

MC120a has Leech Shields now.

1. So can you please write this into the description of this unit that they are "rear firing" to not confuse the players and therefore to not make them to report this as a bug as I did?

4. What about the issue with the seismic charge ability and its misleading FX effect?

5. And what will you do with the hunt for enemies ability? I noticed that this ability is often pushing out more important abilities of some units and for example this ability is completely unaccessible to the rebel fighter heroes because it is push out and if I remember correctly then you cannot set this ability to auto trigger and even if you can then it will do more bad then good because the AI is pretty stupid and have weird priority target tables so when I activate this ability on the fighters they will automaticaly hunt for ANY enemy unit no matter what class it is. So if they encounter anti-fighter frigate then they will attack it anyway even if it is 100% sure that they will lose. So please remove this ability from this mod. Its absolutely useles and is only taking place from the more important abilities.

7. Then why have some units even access to these type of abilities if they cannot be activated manualy and you dont want to set them to auto-fire either. Just remove these abilities from the units which dont have an option to activate them manualy because what is the purpose of the ability that I cannot use anyway?

It's unprecedented to give indication of firing arcs in the armament description.

The original seismic charge particle remains, unfortunately.

Hunt pushes out nothing - it's always the last ability listed. Targeting priorities are done by class. They can include individual units, but it's a bit difficult with the number of variants we have (the list will almost certainly overflow at 4096 characters).

The AI has no interface.

Well thats not actually true because empire heroes ( Soontir Fel, Mauler Mitchel, Maarek Stele ) do not have access to the call for wingman ability because it is pushed out by the hunt for enemies. The rebel heroes on the other hand do not have this kind of problem because the HFE is listed last as you said. But this will create another problem because now when the HFE is listed last I cannot use it manualy nor automaticly because if I remember correctly you cannot set the HFE to auto trigger. So why is this ability even there if it is only taking place from the more important abilities ( empire ) or is completely unaccessible ( rebels ). Cannot you just remove it? That will solve all of this problems.

The reason it's on ships and inaccessible is for the AI to use. The game can only handle two abilities per unit, unfortunately.

okay im just going to add to this topic since i cant make my own, i am trying to install the mod, and whenever i start up the mod for the game, it loads bla bla bla, and then as soon as i try to start playing the game crashes, and says i am sorry the game crashed....im trying to download the mod and have tried all 3 things the mod said in the "readme: file or the text document and it all 3 options dont work, the 3rd option wont work because i have a 64 bit microsoft thing? or somethin? not good with comptuer...but it just elimanates the 3rd option...can someone help me? this dosent have to do with this discussion bbut i can make my own so hey, plz help, the game is good, but from watching youtube on this mod, it looks like the game is great

bah!!! this sucks...i will re-say what i posted earlier since after re-reading it my self it seemed a bit unclear, okay i downloaded the mod and i try to install the mod onto the game, FOC, i have the gold pack soo yea, maybe that might help you with answearing my problem...so i try to do that and it says that like a thousand diffrent errors come up, i also looked at some of the REALLY old bug discussions and it said something about deleting the art and xml files, i did that, it didnt work, if i try to just open up the mod by going to the "shortcut: it opens the game up, then closes it in about a min, ima re download everything and ima just wait and re-do this, plz help, it would be appreciated, if i can't even download the 1.1 version, how am i supposed to download the 1.2 version when it comes out? :( so sad(....

You don't need 1.1

All you need is Vanilla FOC and simply install V1.2 directly. It works on the Gold pack and we've tested on various operating systems.

Just finishing the packaging at the moment. All that's left is to compile the change-log :w00t: and write the release post.

where do u find these Vanilla FOC and V1.2?:( do i need to become a member to this Phoenix Rising thing? or are you currently uploading it?

oh and another thing, i finally got the game to not crash immediatly after i start to play it, now i can look at the menu and do that, aand i can play skirmish mode, the only problem is in skirmish the AL is retarded and dosent do one thing, and in galactic conquest as soon as i press start it crashes my computer, not just the operation like it was doing earlier, and yea...:( this is the new problem for me

Vanilla FOC would be an unmodded/altered copy of Forces of Corruption, the Empire at War expansion set. V1.1 (and soon enough 1.2) should be linked under the "releases" link in the side bar of the PR main website http://www.eawpr.net/

thanks i will look for the vanilla thing, ive had the 1.1 version, obviously, and i looked on the forums and apparently the v1.2 is supposed to come out in the coming days? lucky me to get interested in this game at this time:), can u give a link to the Vanilla FOC dowload possible? ive been looking and cant find one,

Vanilla is modder-speak for an unmodified version of the game. When we say Vanilla FoC, we mean the commercial version of Forces of Corruption- just reinstall Empire at war and patch it.
Don't think, Fingan, you aren't properly equipped for it.

i am officially confused....i have unistalled and reinstalled this game like twenty times trying to get the phonix rising mod to work, i finally got it to the point where i can get on the menu and change stuff, but the al dosent do anything on skirmish mode, and the most important mode, galactic conquest, wont work, as soon as i press the start for it, the game freezes/ my computer freezes, and crashes...idk what i am doing wrong...the game is fully updated...the gold version already has two of the major patches downloaded, and i looked at the lucas arts website for more updates. and i have all of those downloaded. the game is fully updated/patched...there is nothing to be done

The skirmish AI is stupid and there is nothing we can do about that until we rewrite it. Galactic Conquest does work, it just takes a long time to load, during which the game will seem to freeze. We've improved GC loading times a massive amount for v1.2 of the mod which is releasing very soon.

Did you patch Empire at War and Forces of Corruption with the official Petroglyph patches before installing Phoenix Rising?
