honestly its pretty good right now, i miss the HVG but oh well not as cannon... now why cant ships like the preator and executor mount the same caliber turbos as the planet side ones... that always bugs me that they have no step between 'heavy octuple turbo lasers" and super lasers on mainline ships, advanced and experimental only appear on a few rare or expensive ships in small numbers

If the CSA ever becomes playable again have you considered giving them a planetary turbodisruptor cannon?

No, disruptors are illegal. Even if they weren't, I doubt they've have the range to scale to a planetary weapon. CSA is known to use ion cannons like the Rebellion.

First of all, I'll actually argue that the planatary turbolaser is actually too powerful at the moment. It essentially neutralizes all cruiser class ships and even some destroyers in a single shot, and it's recharge is short enough that it can be fired 3-4 times during a long engagement. One particular instance comes to mind where I destroyed a Venator-I in a single shot. For it's price (don't really remember, but it's not over 15k), it's extremely effective, seeing as a Venator costs basically 10k minimum (Being built at Kuat). Something that costs 15k should not be able to destroy a ship worth 10k 3-4 times per battle.

Second, is there a random damage roll on how much the turbolaser does? As mentioned above, I once destroyed a Venator-I from full shields/health in a single shot, but when I fired it at another Venator later in the same battle, it just crippled it, taking out its shield and bringing it down to about 10-15% health.

Edit: In that vein of thought, I think the energy weapon on the Venator-II is a tad stronger than it should be as well. First, it has incredible range (On the scale of a heavy turbolaser) and does amazing damage. My 4 Venator-II's destroyed a Golan 2 in a single volley.

It may have been that in the later battle, the AI had taken a planet that increased their starship defence or hull strength. I agree that the SPHA-T on the Venator needs a range reduction.

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!

It was later in the same battle. Maybe the first time it was just missing a bit of shield I didn't notice or something. Just wondering. Perhaps a random damage roll should be added to weapon hits. It's not like every impact of a weapon is going to inflict identical damage, there is a bit of luck involved with hitting more critical components vs just bulkheads.

Damage isn't random, but ships are more vulnerable as they exit hyperspace.
