The past few days I've been working on a really fun new kind of map; 1st person. I've talked about this before, but never really built off of it. Basically you just use a script to change the angle and zoom, and then script it into a singleplayer mission style map. I've now begun work on a three part map series that follows Elrond through some of the major battles of the Last Alliance. What I have so far isn't anywhere close to being finished, but I have gotten enough done to get some cool looking screenshots to share.

I like the idea. And for what you've got so far, this looks like a very promising approach. I'm curious to see more.

It does look nice. Good scripts and good maps looks promising.

By the way - should this not be in the Worldbuilder forum, and not the Showcase?

It can be here, the WB forum is mostly for technical stuff and questions.

It's not as there's very much activity in the Showcase anyways :p

There's been a lot of progress on the map in the past few days, so I've been able to finish a rough draft version of the map. Visually, it's complete, but the scripts may be able to be improved a bit. There'll also probably be a few bugs, so suggestions and comments are very welcome.Attached File  map sp last alliance rivendell.zip   391.02KB   59 downloads

Drúwaith Iaur- Drúwaith Iaur is the land to the west of Gondor, and is one of the last homes of the Drúedain. These mysterious people were thought to have been extinct. In truth, a few still survive in the mountains and caves of this land.

Looks great. Any chance of a more zoomed-out view? ;)

Here's a screenshot from worldbuilder. As you can see, I still have a little bit of work to do on the second level.

You might want to tone down the gold light a bit it reminds of the massive sand storms we had here a few years ago.

I changed the lighting a bit, and replaced some of the buildings. Dol Amroth is now available for download! Credits to whoever did the fortress scripts for TDH, as mine are heavily based off of those.

Located on the western edge of Belfalas, Dol Amroth is one of the most powerful of Gondor's fiefdoms. This map is a fortress map, and has been scripted to support AI. Enjoy!

I still find the yellow of this map too damn high!

I don't find it feasible that Dol Amroth, located south in Gondor, is to be so overly influenced by a fake yellow haze of colours. Even if it were a desert map at dusk or dawn it would be overkill.
It's a pretty nice map, but I'd try a more natural colour scheme..

You're welcome.

Just had a quick look in WB, it's looking quite nice! I think the lighting is fine - you could tone it down more maybe, but given Dol Amroth sits on a spit that sticks out from the coast i don't think it's unrealistic that the sunsets could be quite intense. I had a quite similar lighting scheme for my Grey Havens map which also sits on the coast, though i made sure to balance out the lighting by using darker textures, buildings and trees.

If you can, i'd map the texturing to those cliffs to make it look even better. And i could maybe stand to see some more trees/rocks/shrubs/etc outside the castle. Other than that though, your mapping's really coming along nicely. I like what you did with that little courtyard around the citadel.
