A friend of mine tried to play multiplayer. But it just does not work. We use hamachi for it, we can see eachother in the network lobby that works fine. But whenever one of us tries to join the games says that it has detected a sync error and that on of our games is a different version or is modified. We tried to install specifically the same patches, but still no luck. 

The only reason I can think of is that it doesn't work is that I have an original version and my friend not. But EA dropped the whole servers and stopped distrubution and sells of the game 
So at least here in the Netherlands the game is just unavailable. So if someone has found a way to fix this or if someone could help me resolve this issue that would be great.

Well are any of you using the No-CD Patch ? If so Multiplayer would not work because this generates a Random Code to start the game. Or have you'll played before in Multiplayer and now receiving this problem ?

Yeah it's probably the game's anti-cracking mechanism. Ask your friend what version he sees in the game menu. If it's something random like 2.6723154, he won't be able to play multiplayer. The only thing he can do is use an original, uncracked game.dat and a (mini) image of a legitimate disc in a virtual CD drive like Alcohol or Daemon Tools.

Yeah my friend is using a no-cd patch. And I haven't played multiplayer with SEE yet. I have played multiplayer with the vanilla via gameranger not problems with that. 
Bah it is so annoying that the game is not for sale anymore. EA could have at least made it free ware in some way or another. We will try with the virtual images. The only thing I am still worried about, is the serial code.
But hopefully that won't be a problem with the virtual cd's. Thank you for your advice. I will post if the issue is resolved or not.

Your friend needs to use a serial code from a keygen. He probably has that anyway though because the cracked versions I've... heard about... don't patch the key checking mechanism but include a simple keygen.

Also the virtual CD image absolutely needs to be from a legitimate CD with all little errors at the start of the disc included, not the ISO he downloaded.

Well my friend i had the same problem with a friend of mine trying to play the game and the same error appeared to us so this what we did:

 

We installed the game from zero we patched it untill 1.4 version (we installed this amazing mod by the way exceptional job u did guys thank u very much for this mod keep up the good work and cant wait untill the new mod comes out) using the read-me file and we tried to play it trough hamachi but it didnt worked,then i looked on the internet for this kind of problems but just a few answers then i tried another virtual private networg program and i found REMOBO and it works now we can play without any problems.

So make sure u have the same version but REMEMBER it must be a stable version like 1.4 or 1.0 for me 1.5 or 1.6 wasnt stable (i mean every time i join in the game to play multyplayer with my friend we had diffrent versions)  and dont use hamachi no more hamachi has some problems use remobo but if u want to use remobo be sure u need to disable hamachi or uninstall it and it will work.

You can always try if you are sitting next to each other to start the game separate, so you got both the original game installed. Just hand over the disc sometimes and you can play with the non cracked BFME 2 At least thats what me and my friend did. If it doesnt work you can always play with me, I'm also dutch
