I was expecting this from the guy in med school. I just followed Pasidon's concept. There are a lot more anatomical inconsistencies to be found.
Personally, I like it this way though. Gives the creature an even weirder, pieced-together look.

Aww, Mati... I'm loving that. Uber-boss. Color me impressed.
But yea, anatomically correct isn't always fun. Stop being a buzz-killington, Gen. Gee-wiz. One could also argue skeletons don't wear capes.

I really like the spooky, zombified, skeletal early 20th century Disneyesque quality of this particular character you draw. Perhaps you could use that style for more things (karts, map props, other characters). It's very visually distinct, haven't seen anything like it.

The throw-back cartoon style really is cool... it's just hard to mix it into modernized techniques. Using the generous black outlines and simple colors on all my stuff (crap) is really pretty old fashioned as well, and I made my fictional personification with other techniques that I don't use often, like exaggerated anatomy or impossible attributes, such as my floating fingers.
Exaggerated anatomy is something I don't do enough... it really something cartoonists don't use enough of today. I might have a really cool idea in mind with that... More updates here soon. I know I said I wasn't going to do much more work until I saw progress... but Mati here made a generous offering to me, so I might conjurer up something delicious from the foulest pixel pits...

Once I finish and texture it, I can also try some cell-shading trick to get that cartoony style.
I think it'd be really cool to center at least part of the art direction around this character. Why don't you create different characters within this distinct style? Different animal skulls, anatomies, attributes. You know, like how Mickey Mouse and Goofy both fit in the same category.

i would suggest redoing the arms so they are kind of interlocked between upper arm and forearm
so that the forearm kinda is wrapped around the upper arm in a way? like chop sticks and bend into the wrist
similar for the legs
else the animator will have a hell of a time animating it

This is actually still concept art, I'm just doodling this character based on what Pasidon came up with.
