Hello Revora, I return today after a long hiatus (College work) to release my latest map.

Amon Hen-Again!

Attached File  Amon Hen-Again Maps.zip   1.83MB   140 downloads

It's a small map designed similar to that of the original although unlike the original It takes place immediately after Frodo is sent away by Aragorn and follows his and Sam's journey as they traverse the uruk infested forest in order to reach the boat.

Now just like Ea's Amon Hen it is altered slightly to make it more interesting to play but it does have quite a few elements relating to the normal storyline.

Here's a few (Sixteen) photos from the map excluding the cinematics, hidden to avoid unwanted spoilers.

Spoiler

There's a singleplayer and a two player co-op version.

All feedback is very much appreciated, what you liked or what annoyed you...e.t.c"

Hope you enjoy!

Fudge has made a map! Yaayayayayayayaya! :thumbsupxd:

Looks epic. I will try it out on the weekend. Co-op anyone?

Unfortunately the Co-Op version of the map doesn't work. The problem is in order to have two people playing on the same map you need two "Player_X_Start" so it'll show up in multiplayer but by this it makes all other pre set units teamless, I imagine this is due to the skirmish AI.

Does anybody know exactly what the ScenarioMP option does and whether it's possible to get a map without start points to show up in the multiplayer menu?

Can you just go into the mapcache ini and change it to multiplayer?

Yes I have but that's sort of the problem as multiplayer maps have pre-made AI scripting meaning they do as they please, is it possible to disable their pre-made scripts?

Thanks, hopefully there's something I can do to disable the skirmish AI.

UPDATE - After nearly two months of utter confusion and endless errors, I've finally managed to get the Ai to use my scripts instead of their default. Meaning I can now release the (tested and working) version of "Amon Hen-Again (Co-Op)."

Here's a link to the map download and a screenshot of the full map in worldbuilder.

Tested it with a mate there are two main things to mention.

Bug at the ending of the "mission" the camera keeps rotating which also made it impossible to close down the game properly.

The most important part is that the gameplay is a bit dull. It wasn't that existing.

I know for some it looks like criticism I hope you're not one of those guys.
Perhaps you have some use of my feedback:

There are a number of ways to make it more exciting
Let the hero start with one ability and overtime gain more.

Example: start with rocks only than toggleable blades and so on...

Perhaps add some patrolling uruks where the hobbits have to hide  from.
If the uruk patrol gets alerted a lot more stronger units come by...

Also you could add some cave trolls here and there

Ah well that is indeed a big problem, thanks for that.

Well I worked with what I had in relation to what I could do without the level becoming to different to the film version, for example they couldn't fight Trolls so I only had Uruk fighters, archers and warg riders to make up the enemy team.

Let the hero start with one ability and overtime gain more.

Example: start with rocks only than toggleable blades and so on...

That would probably involve map.ini stuff which I am totally incapable of doing, all my map.ini stuff comes from Ea's levels.

Perhaps add some patrolling uruks where the hobbits have to hide  from.

If the uruk patrol gets alerted a lot more stronger units come by...

Also you could add some cave trolls here and there

That's more doable, bar the cave trolls for the reason I stated above. I'll take a look at implementing something like that somewhere in the map.

Edit - To be honest I personally prefer Fangorn Forest-Again (which I'm going to try and convert to a 3 player map) which is generally more exiting and more challenging.

Well here is how I learned to map ini very quickly:

Download the zip file it has all the official maps map.ini's

Go through them and see what kind of changes they made. You will be able to adjust like the trolls attack dmg, run speed or even the health.

This zip will expand your skillset   :p

Thanks for that but it's not the damage or power of trolls why I don't include them, it's the fact that I don't feel hobbits killing trolls would be even the slightest bit believable and I tried to keep it slightly (very slightly) realistic.

Well sure ok

Let the multiple trolls put up a fight first vs uruk hai crossbows so that it looks like they are already badly wounded.

Just not enough uruks to defeat the troll and then let the hobbits fight them  :shiftee:
