The long, long awaited BETA is finally here! We, members of Contra Project Team, thank you for all the wait! It has been years since the last release. Many visual changes, fixed errors and balance adjustments have been made since 007.

Zero Hour version 1.04 is required!

Installation instructions: Put all files inside a clean Zero Hour directory (with no mods installed) and rename Scripts folder to Scripts1 (which is located inside Data folder).
Only one of these files must be inside your Zero Hour directory:
"!Contra008BetaRu.big" - for Russian language.
"!Contra008BetaEn.big" - for English language.

If you want to play other mods at the same time, make a copy of a clean Zero Hour and install 008 Beta in it. 008 Beta will be launched from the new folder. Other mods will be launched from the other folder.

 

Be aware that this is a BETA release! Bugs and imbalance are likely to be found. We already know about them. Expect them fixed in the final 008 version. We are also aware that some of you don't like the new voices (which are unfinished, though). Sit back and enjoy the BETA. Code, art and balance are subject to change in the future!

GREAT news!!!

I play with a german Generals ZH and have alot of violet and transparent  buttons and alot of "MISSING" messages

is there some extra stuff I need for german ZH? with 007 I dont have this issue

If you get the "MISSING" messages then you probably didn't install it properly. There are 3 files if i recall - there's a "Contra008EN", Contra008RU" and just a plain "Contra008". You have to install the Contra008 file and either the EN or the RU file depending on your language.

Originally I installed the "Contra008EN" file only and left out the plain "Contra008", and this caused those "MISSING" messages.

The reason is because a Chinese Campaign does not exist. All missions are in Beta stage. You will notice many bugs throughout the Campaign.

Run generals.exe as administrator and in compatibility mode. See if it works.

Is it even the right way to do this, or did i miss something out which is actually quite obvious...

I think it should work without converting it back, but if it doesn't work - drag the renamed folder inside the pack while it's opened with FinalBig.
