Today I present you with a new update on the status of Shadow and Flame. Things have been going very, very slow. Lately I've picked up the pace again and started creating new and improved art assets. I've also begun looking for a new coder.

citthumb.png

The Gundabad citadel is a towering dwelling made of stone, leather, and troll-bone where vile orcish leaders take up residence.

forgethumb.png

The Deepforge is constructed around a bare pit of molten rock. The orcs of Gundabad use it to forge their cruel weaponry and provide their troops with better armor.

lodgethumb.png

Gundabad Lodges can be found dotted across the orcish territories of the Misty Mountains. This is where the orcish mountain-dwellers are gathered in times of war.

minethumb.png

Mountain orcs are cunning tunnelers and familiar with crude methods of metal-forging. As well as providing resources, it is believed that some Gundabad mines stretch far south, all the way to the Black Pit of Moria.

wargthumb.png

The orcs of Gundabad have long been allied to the wargs of the region. They are known to ride the larger breeds while sending forth the smaller wolves to harrass the enemy before battles.

***

And that is all for this time. Thanks for reading, and if you're interested in lending a helping hand, I direct you here.

On the Citadel, the bricks look like paving stones, too tall and thin to hold up a building.
Also, the low-res skin on the wolf, I assume this is intentional.

Otherwise, great!

All very lovely assets. Im with bofur though. The stone portion of the citadel looks very flat. I suppose its supposed to be larger boulders cobbled together crudely but it does come across flat and seemingly like stepping stones.

I switched out the older texture used on the citadel for a newer one I made. Looks better now.

Sorry for my apparent pickiness, don't get me wrong - I love the models - but what's with the unanti-aliased logo? On, like, any of it?

Really nice models! Accurate as I see how Gundabad orcs and structures should be! Dark, primal and grim as it should be! I hate BFME2 Goblins' faction because it was messed up and completely out of lore. Sipder rider and fissure * sighs*

Thanks for the kind words, Madril.

I don't get what you're on about, Irene. The logo? You mean the text in the top right? I don't see how that is 'unanti-aliased', or why it matters.

The Mordor emmisary you created makes me think of the Orc sent from Dol Guldur to Gundabad in the fan movie "Born of Hope", which is really good :). I like your Bolg perception, broad and big, a greenish orc as I like.

Will they have Cave Trolls? And if yes, will they get hammers instead of trees and throwing rocks?

Gundabad will get two types of trolls. Hill-trolls, and cave-trolls. Hill-trolls come in a horde of three and are smaller, weaker, and faster than cave and mountain-trolls. They carry clubs and crude hammers and are cheap enough to be on the field early mid-game to strengthen Gundabad's initial harrass strategies. Cave-trolls will be expensive, single units similar to Mordor's unit, meaning they can pick up a tree for better melee or rocks for siege.

Come to think of it, there might be a third troll unit if I decide to use the RotWK Angmar siege weapon animations.

Oh and Irene, I figured out your comment. You meant the update header. Yeah, that's pretty jagged. At the time I made it I wasn't so good at that sort of thing. Not going to bother changing it though, I like the aesthetic.

Fair nuff. Oh, yeah, and the modelling quality goes without saying, being you.

So, the faction has: Goblin swarm, archers, Mountain orcs, orc pikemen, wargs, hill and cave trolls, hobgoblins? A good rooster :)

Off the top of my head (not checking the roster :p): Mountain Orc warriors, archers, and pikemen, Moria Orc swarm, Wild Wargs, Warg Riders, and the two troll types. Bolg may also summon elite bodyguards.

There's also the heroes Othrod of the Tower (unlocked through the Moria spellbook power) and Lug the Mauled, a Warg Rider hero I thought up.

I might eventually add something along the lines of the 'pale orcs' thought up by Weta (maybe as units similar to Isengard's berserkers) but I'm happy with what I've got. It seems well-rounded and grounded.

You don't happen to be a coder, Madril?
