"Server Welcome" Tournament SUPPORT

Best Answer Mathijs, 01 November 2013 - 11:02 AM

A note for those who worry about 1.04 and 1.05:

I've thought about it some more. If you REALLY don't want to use 1.05 for your match, this is what you should do BEFORE playing the matches:

  1. Ask your opponent. If he wishes to use 1.05, his wish takes precedent.
  2. Find a neutral host who is also willing to use 1.04 in case one is required.
  3. When posting your replays, CLEARLY state that you are using 1.04.

I don't like doing this, but I don't want to garner drama around here, so this is preemptive. I would still strongly prefer if everyone used 1.05, but I realize that with the movement issue I am not in a position to dictate people.

For the next tournament, I hope 1.06 is out. If not, we will start off with clearer guidelines concerning patch use that should make things easier for everyone.

If the game crashes in the middle of a game, what happens?

That will be decided from game to game, but you will probably loose if it was your game that crashed.

(comparable to: If you hurt yourself in sports competition, your opponent wins usually)

For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

What if neutral host would suddenly dc, giving one of the 2 players host?

What if the world ends while playing the final? Who gets the Steam games, and can we still use them?

Neutral hosts will have good connections. If one dc's within the first 5 minutes, maybe you can go ahead and reschedule the match. If it happens mid or lategame, it depends on what both players end up agreeing to.

These kinds of tournaments require a certain amount of autonomy and responsibility from participants; we cannot cover and regulate every single issue that might arise.

I'm trying to play my first game with lordoflight, but we don't see eachother in the online lobby. I can see the game "GROUP D COME" but not him, and he can't see me (we are in group C). Is it allowed to play through Gameranger instead? Or what can we do to fix the problem?

Playing through gameranger in this tournament is not allowed.

There seems to be some server lag at the moment. We will look into it.

UPDATE: There definitely seems to be an issue going on at the moment. First time in weeks, and just as we're starting the tournament. Murphy's Law in action.

I will keep this post updated as the issue is sorted out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey guys...as I see many players had signed up and probably wont play a game (what happened in every tourney ever organised) I suggest to make additional signups for those who still wanna participate in the tourney (not just Randall the Noob) to replace those inactive ones.

sorry guys, I think I've missed something. Where can I find the match schedule? I've been regularly checking the signup topic and the rules topic but I haven't seen anything about that it was announced?

Everyone has to face 3 opponents during the group stage.

You will have to set up these games by yourself. If you wish, you may use your group topic (as provided by us in this forum) to plan your matches.
