Agreed. The scale doesn't make blood fit in.

I think, especially in this case, it could also do with blurring. It's a noticeably repetitive texture.

I like it, but it should be more subtle. The more noticeable it is, the more it stands out, the more ugly it tends to look. If you scale down the FX and decal and perhaps make it slightly transparent. It might look good.

Why is there blood on these then :p

 

And I was going to scale down the decal today anyway, was a bit to noticeable when you play with much more units.

Blood is really tricky to get right especially with limits we have.

We can only have one decal texture and it can't randomise or change, the particle fx system is somewhat basic so again it's hard to make things look dynamic which blood has to.

Then comes the design part of the issue do you go realistic,stylised or over the top?

 

That blood looks okay as far as blood fx go.
