Basically I've had this idea for a long time - why not make a board game based on Middle-earth? I've seen a lot of Middle-earth board games and didn't like any of them because most of them follow the Fellowship quest. I want to make it like the War of the Ring mode in the BFME series. So here are the ideas:

  • The game takes place on two boards: the World board(campaign map of Middle-earth) and the Battle board(where realtime battles are resolved). It's exactly like the War of the Ring mode in BFME2 and ROTWK.
  • Armies are represented by counters.
  • The campaign map is turn based.
  • The game is basically a combination of Third Age: Total War and BFME series.
  • This is NOT for commercial purposes, so don't be scared of infringing copyrights

I can give you a long list of ideas I have for the board game. But first, I need to know if anyone's interested. Don't worry, this isn't just ideas. I have already started making the unit stats, the campaign map etc.

So.....anyone interested??

I had made one base on my own ideas . Tho it has some several non-lore things like classes based on elements.

Really? So how did it work? Did you perfect it enough to play it?

Basically, could you explain the rules?

It had a perfect gameplay from the first test I made me with my friends. Your hero gets a bit overpowered to the end but the game is well balanced. Probably should make the AI a bit harder to defeat towards the end when the heroes can get pretty buffed up.

If I will remember I will write down some rules here soon :p

Errmmm......that doesn't tell me too much about the working and gameplay of your game.

How large was your game board? How did you work out real time battles? And so on......
