Good day Everyone!

I am requesting to host my mod Immersive Middle Earth.

To give a description of this mod; it is basically designed to make the Battle for Middle Earth 1 a more engrossing and personal experience. A few aspects have been changed and tweaked in order to bring about a fuller experience. A big part of the mod is to make the game more realistic. For example, bodies stay longer on the battlefield, melee units have have thier ranges and attack delays adjusted so attacks won't look like they miss or take forever to launch, and many other things have been added. Elite units also have been balanced differently to make them formidable against most enemies, however with each individual factions elite troops offering distinct advantages in certain, unique situations.

I will admit I am not a highly skilled modder, so I feel that hosting my mod can help me attract more skillful modders to the project to make the mod more grand than it all ready is now.

Details for what is already developed as well as "wish list items" that are planned on being developed can be found on the link

Hey there, I see you made your thread. Let's see...

I will give you a subforum. You will also likely get that webhosting, but I have to wait for Phil (Network Leader) for that. I will also publicize news on your mod on our social media (Facebook page, for now).

In return, I expect:

  1. Updates posted here, not just on ModDB.
  2. Some activity in both your hosted forum as well as in the rest of T3A (as in trying to help newbie modders where you can).
  3. Proper conduct; meaning no content in your mod that doesn't belong to you. Ask for permission and give credit where it's due. I see you've used our HD Texture Pack; is that part of your mod's .BIG file or something you bundle in your download to make sure people have it? I would prefer the second option, but depending on what Rider of Rohan says, either way is fine.

As to your subforums, I think some are a bit superfluous. How about this:

Design philosophies, new ideas, and derivative mod ideas will work just as well as pinned forum threads. I prefer to keep subforum count down (so as to not confuse people who are not used to message boards like Revora).

Would that work for you?

EDIT: I see your mod doesn't use the -mod command method. I would strongly suggest setting that up for your mod. Using the -mod command method of installation is much cleaner and allows people to play your mod without having to move the files in and out of their installation folder. Just follow the tutorial: http://www.the3rdage.net/item-14?addview  I dislike hosting mods here that mess with people's installation folders, so that will need to be changed (it would make everything a lot easier for yourself too!). If you need help (you shouldn't, it's really easy), you can ask here.

I look forward to your reply.

Dear Mathijs

Yes, the simplified forum changes are fine with me.

I shall be able to fulfill the expectations. The HD textures is partially part of the mod, as I added the alternating haradrim skin codes to my stuff which requires the HD texture patch to prevent invisible haradrim from walking around on high graphics. I have been in contact with Rider of Rohan and he is ok with his stuff in my mod. I do not intend on stealing other people's work and I will make sure I give credit where it is due. However, I will admit I did not ask for permission initially so I will make sure to do that whenever I can. Rider of Rohan has also mentored me and offered tips and suggestions. He also taught me the -mod command recently and I will be able to use it once I am able to get back on my windows computer (this weekend). I am pretty new to all this but I will do my best to make sure my work won't cause any unnecessary hassle or trouble with anyone.

Thank you, knightsatwar

I did allow him to use the HD Patch yes, and he initially did not know about the -mod command, so I showed him how to do it a few days ago.

Welcome to the T3A Hostees!

I set up your subforum and moved this thread into your forum's main area ('discussion'). I've also created a Download Link redirect, a Staff Forum (the password I have PMed you), and a Bug Reports forum.

You have been promoted to the Hosted group. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Welcome and congratulation. Enjoy your stay :)

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Knighty, are you planning to do anything with this space? If not, I'll archive this.

Hello knightsatwar, I just tested your mod and got the instant defeat after a couple of minutes.
I did a clean install of BFME, patched to 1.03, installed your mod, and emulated a miniiso to bypass the CD-check.

I'd be happy to suppy any info necessary, your mod seems really fun and I can't wait to try it out :)

well, it turns out just replacing the LOTRBFMe.dat with the original one fixed it!
anyway, another thing I found out: in the campaign, on the first rohan mission, I wasn't able to build any outposts. I clicked build and it would appear as if building for a couple of seconds, but immediatly returning to the flags.
