For anyone still having trouble logging in after trying everything that is suggested everywhere.
I had the problem that after clicking login it would take a while and then say cannot connect to the battle for middle earth 2 online.
For me the firewall of my router blocked 6665-6669 in it's firewall and apparently these ports are needed. So once I added these ports as an exception in my router firewall it worked.
