In Topic: Lothlórien (Elven) faction

21 October 2007 - 04:43 PM

Before I speak on some of the things that I would love to see in SEE, I would like to say that out of the all the mods for the BFME series that I have viewed or played, SEE is by far the BEST! You guys definitely have brought new life to BFME for me. In all honesty, I think EA should be hiring you guys to compose a BFME Edition that really does the movies & books justice (though I know your mod primarily focuses on the movie adaptation). I normally skirmish on BFME2 as either elves or MOTW, likewise I did have a few suggestions/ideas for the elven faction:

1. Like many of the other fans that have commented in the forums, I definitely agree that Merry and Pippin should be put in the MOTW faction to free up two hero slots for the Sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir. In the books, they accompanied Aragorns kinsmen in the Grey Company. I really see them as archers/swordsmen because that seems to be the standard for Ranger-type units. As for powers, they really do not need to have more than 3. They could have a special melee attack, a ranged attack, and a leadership ability.

2. I also like the toggle ability for Legolas, allowing him to fight with his bow or fighting knives. Sometimes, you just want to get up close and personal in combat with Legolas and the timed ability limits your duration in taking it to the enemy.

3. Just for those who didn't know, Cirdan was in the movies. During the prologue of LOTR where they show the elven rings of power, and at the end of ROTK with Elrond, Celeborn, and Galadriel awaiting to board the ship to the undying lands. I think he would be a cool hero for the elves, as he was a previous ring bearer. By including him and the Sons of Elrond to the game, that would give the elves roughly ten true heroes (I don't count the Hobbits) making them more even hero-wise with the MOTW and Mordor.

4. The elves should have more combatant units. I think the Noldorin spearmen seen surrounding Gil-galad in the LOTR would be a nice edition and would offer the elves another defense against mounted foes.

5. The Lorien archers should be renamed "Lorien Wardens" and as such should wear the gray clothing they are seen with escorting the fellowship to Galdriel in LOTR:TT. I think that gray outfit fits better than the blue clothing the game has on them.

6. I am really glad that the SEE staff have been making changes to the Lorien Warriors. For me, this is one unit that has never been worth spending valuable resources on to build in my book.

In Topic: Comments & Suggestions for Beta 4.5

I don't know if any of these things have been suggested, but while playing SEE yesterday, a couple of ideas came to mind that i would like to offer.

(1) I think it would be cool to split the elven faction into a main and mini faction like Gondor and Rohan are. The main elven faction could consist of the LA style swordsmen/archers, LA elven spearmen as seen in LOTR:FOTR, Elven Lancers and Archers, and Mithlond Sentries. As an elite unit for the main faction, the could be something like Gil-galad's personal guard (those few who survived that is). The heroes for the main faction could consist of Elrond, Glorfindel, Arwen, Elrohir, Eladan, and Cirdan (who I belive was shown at the beginning of LOTR:FOTR and the end of ROTK). The elven mini-faction could consist of the woodland elves from Lorien and Mirkwood with their hero structure being similar to the great tree Galdriel and Celeborn greeted the fellowship. Their units could consist of Lorien Archers (dressed in the gray Warden clothing), Galadrim Warriors as a versatile infantry/ranged, Mirkwood Archers as the best ranged combatants of Middle Earth, and Ents and Eagles. As for the Lorien Warriors, it may just be me, but I never thought EA's concept for them made them worth purchasing, especially since they are really weak. I just feel like the Lorien Warriors could be so much better than what EA created. As for the elven mini-faction heros, Galadriel, Celeborn, Thranduil, Haldir, and Legolas.

(2) For MOTW, I would like to see more of the Heroes from both Gondor and Rohan like Imrahil, Belegond, Gamling, Hama, and Aragorns kinsmen from the north that were part of the Grey Company. I would also like to see the Rohan Royal Guard as Rohan's elite unit and something similar to dismounted Rohirrim as their ground forces. I never really liked the whole peasant concept as soldiers. True, Rohan did have many peasants fighting at Helms deep, but their was also portions of a uniformed army there as well. Like the Rohan spearmen put in ROTWK could be remodeled in more traditional Rohan armour. I really like what you all have done with Gondor and the amount of work you all have put into it. The only suggestions I can think of for Rohan is maybe have Dunedain Rangers or the Grey Company as their elite unit and maybe give Gondor's Rangers the Toggle weapon feature like some of the elven units. that would be cool.

(3) As for the Dwarves, They are really lacking in both Heros and units. The things you guys have did with them thus far that I have seen has really improved upon them. I just think more Heros and units for this faction would make them more on par with the other factions.

I really don't have any suggestions for the evil factions just now, and i feel like i have already typed enough for now. thanks for listening.

SEE Survey

1) Where and when did you hear about SEE (saw a preview, friend told me about it, found it on T3A, I heard about SEE about two months ago while looking for mods on the Rhovanion Alliance Sight.

2) What do you like most about SEE? The detail given to each character and unit found in the game. It seems to me like the SEE Staff take more pride in the game than EA's Staff did. I also like how their are variations in the units (ie = Every Rohirrim is not exactly the same)

3) What don’t you like about SEE (please no comments about the slow building times)? The lack of several heroes during the War of the Ring that were mention in the novels or seen in the movie

4) Would you advise it to a friend? Why/why not? Yes :xcahik_: . The amount of fun that playing this mod has brought back to BFME II for me requires me to tell all my friends about it.

5) Do you mostly play skirmish matches or multiplayer matches? skirmish

6) If you could add one unit, which one would you choose? LA elven spearmen and swordsmen seen in LOTR:FOTR

7) If you could add one hero, which one would it be? Ellodan and Elrohir, the sons of Elrond

8) How would you react when the AI would beat you? I guess simply change my battle strategy up

9) Do you like the idea of the new camera system? yes

10) What maps would you like to have this camera system? as many as possible

11) Do you think we should port the mod to ROTWK? Or should we stay with TBFME II? I think it should be ported to ROTWK as well for those of us with both games
12) Do you often play the WOTR mode? yes

13) Do you often use CAH? Why? (cool powers, nice armour, …) no. The powers armour choices, and character appearances are a lot more limited than I thought they would be. If CAH was improved, I would like to make my own heroes, but right now, it sucks

14) Do you like the idea of adding a new Evil Men faction? Yes

15) Do you have any remaining comments or suggestions? [color="#3366FF"]Overall, you guys have the best BFME Series mod I have played, and I have played plenty of them. The only comments and suggestions I would like to make are (1) Keep up the great job you guys/girls are doing refreshing the game and giving it new life and (2) the one suggestion I would make is adding additional Heroes, Units, powers, and etc to make SEE even greater than it already is. :)

SEE Survey

1) Where and when did you hear about SEE (saw a preview, friend told me about it, found it on T3A, …)? I actually found a link to this mod several months ago while looking at The 3rd Age, BFME sight.

2) What do you like most about SEE? The attention to detail on character faces and the variance of units (ie = when you create a battalion of Rohirrim, they are not all exactly alike)

3) What don’t you like about SEE (please no comments about the slow building times)? The mod didn't have as many of the heroes and units from the novels that I would like to see in a mod like the sons of Elron

4) Would you advise it to a friend? Why/why not? Yes! Out of all the different mods that I have played, SEE is the best in my book.

5) Do you mostly play skirmish matches or multiplayer matches? Skirmish matches

6) If you could add one unit, which one would you choose? It would be the elven warriors from the last alliance of men and elves

7) If you could add one hero, which one would it be? Elladan and Elrohir, the sons of Elrond

8) How would you react when the AI would beat you? It would probably make me rethink my strategy

9) Do you like the idea of the new camera system? Yes!

10) What maps would you like to have this camera system? As many as possible. Mostly the larger battles from the books and movies like Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, and Lorien

11) Do you think we should port the mod to ROTWK? Or should we stay with TBFME II? I think the mod should be ported to ROTWK as well for those of us with the complete game series.

12) Do you often play the WOTR mode? Yes

13) Do you often use CAH? Why? (cool powers, nice armour, …) Sometimes. CAH didn't have the variety of character templates or powers that I initially expected it to have. :crazed:

14) Do you like the idea of adding a new Evil Men faction? Yes

15) Do you have any remaining comments or suggestions? When will the next installment of the mod be available for download
