BFME: The Legend of Zelda

Huh, didn't know Neph tried for BFME. I know the guy right below me. He's doing great for his Medieval II Zelda project, if you're wondering. Since that May 1 post he put up, he's already gotten eight factions done. Guy's a machine.

Anyway, actual topic.

This is a drawing board thread for my idea for a mod. BFME: Legend of Zelda. Not a great name, I know, but it lets people know what it is, and it doesn't really on some cool name with a ridiculous amount of xes in it.

The idea itself isn't too difficult, well, compared to other mods around here; just create a Hyrule faction. Just one, only one. There will be no evil faction, there will be no campaign made specifically for the faction of Hyrule. AI and War of the Ring compatibility is as far as I'm wanting to take this.

The mod itself is based on the era of Twilight Princess, as it seems to have the best timeframe for something you would see in a Lord of the Rings setting. This does mean you won't be seeing classy figures like Malon or the new Ghirahim, but you will be seeing some familiar faces. However, that doesn't mean other Zelda games won't poke in, as even now there are some notes that incorporate elements from the other Zelda games.

So what has been written down? Honestly, I'd rather not say too much, as I don't want to set everything in stone. I'd rather leak things out bit by bit so I can modify something in the event that it can't be done. I will say that Link and Zelda are slated to appear, as it wouldn't be Zelda without them, and the general playstyle on Hyrule has been decided.

Hyrule's basically meant to be the all around, the Mario, the number 3. Throughout all periods of gameplay, they are well balanced with no real flaws. They're never number 1, but they're never dead last. They always enjoy a comfortable position throughout gameplay. Never really struggling to survive, but not really curbstomping everything.

The biggest thing I m keeping an eye out for is editing rather than creating. Quite frankly, if I can base something off of an existing model, or an existing power rather than create it from scratch, I will. I have no intention of making this revolutionary, nor do I plan on giving it a gimmick of sorts. It's a full blown Legend of Zelda faction mod, and it's being done for fun really.

And for the record, one of the biggest reasons I'm so confident about this mod is that pretty much 95% of everything that I've taken notes on can easily be based off of something already existing in the vanilla version of the game. I jotted down this whole mod with the idea that there would be nothing truly revolutionary about it. Once again, the farthest and most complex being AI and War of the Ring. There is no campaign planned, there is no evil counterfaction planned, there are no new maps planned. Just a new playable faction.

Also, I'm not coming up with a plotty reason as to why Hyrule's there in Middle Earth. It just is. It's for fun.
