MC80 Liberty Star Cruiser Upgrades

Though the MC80 Liberty was able to hold it's own against the ISD MK1, the introduction of the ISD MK2 proved to be problematic for the Rebels. The MC80B, 'Mon Remonda type' was still along way off from being developed. The Rebels needed a heavier cruiser in the mean time that could better counter the ISD MK2. The MC80 Liberty Star Cruiser would be used as a test bed and reconfigured into the MC80 Liberty Battle Cruiser. Rebel technicians replaced the troop carrying capacity and cargo holds with additional hangars space. This allowed the cruiser an extended fighter compliment to match that of the ISD's, Heavy concussion missile launchers were added to the wings, with some variants receiving prow mount proton launchers. Very few MC80 Liberty star cruisers would receive these upgrades as it was simply not practical to take such crucial ships from front line duties. 

 

It could add some extra upgrades for the MC80 Liberty, the MC80D could add extra fighters, whilst the MC80E could add extra weapons. The research and production costs would be suitable more expensive.

The Rebellion in it's infancy relied very much on what they could salvage and modified to there needs. With this in mind is it possible to have planets with unique research and build options. For instance if you captured a planet with an abandoned Old Republic base, it would unlock research and build options for clone wars era vehicles such as:

 

LAAT/i

AT-RT

AT-TE

AT-AP

T3-B

A5 Juggernaut

ARC-170 

 

The same idea could apply to heavily fortified Separatist Holdouts

 

B1 Battledroids

B2 Battledroids

Droideka

AAT's

Recusant Light Destroyer

Bulwark Battlecruiser

Mon Calamari

 

MC80 series starships

The idea behind this is it would add an extra strategic element to the game. Capturing a Separatist Holdout would allow the Rebellion access to heavier warships. Likewise if the Empire captured Mon Calamari it would deny the rebels access to their main heavy cruisers. If the Rebels fail to hold any of these planets they would be restricted to raiding type vessels, frigates, corvettes, light cruisers and snub fighters. If the suggestion could be implemented it could open the door to more unique worlds. The recent updates to the mod have been a welcome improvement, I also seem to be getting virtually no lag. Keep up the great work!
