Heya men and... women? Anyway, I'm a 3D modeler and animator and for a while now I wanted to create a mod to BfME1. I'm not a complete newbie, well, I am when you consider the engine. I've never worked with Saga before but slowly I'm getting the hang of it.
When wandering what could be added to BfME 1 I came across the idea of creating a goblin faction. Never really liked gobos in the second game (i didn't like the second game anyway ) so i though it would be quite cool to spend some time and create the nation for the first game. As some models and animations for the goblins are already there, task would be smaller and ideal for someone who is just starting (yes, I know, scripting is a pain in the butt and I do realize it is NOT easy).
Here are the units I would like to introduce AT THE MOMENT:
- Goblin Swordsman - Big group of goblins equiped with swords. Cheap (cost 0) and numerous. Although weak, they advance very quickly and have amazingly fast creation time.
- Goblin Spearmen - Only anti-cavarly unit which in all honesty, isn't that useful against cavalry anyway
- Goblin Archer - Goblins equiped with bows. They are very weak in defense and will not live long. However, they are great for harassing the enemy.
- Mountain Troll - Wild trolls from the mountains who are enslaved by those little creatures. However, this "slavery" is double sided, as goblins themselves often end up being a snack for those huge creatures
- Warg herd - small herd of wild Wargs who charge and seek their pray
- Spiderlings - small group of little spiders who hunt for human or orc meat.
- Goblin Prowlers - tiny groups of most awful of goblins who serve as deadly mercenaries. They carry small knives and are very agile (small damage but more resistant).
Heroes:
- Goblin King Durburz - Speaks for itself
- Shelob - Da Da Da Dam
- Ughuzur - The big troll
Well, I've started working on the 3D buildings, and I need coders if there are any willing to help. If not, then I will somehow manage myself but... I've got life too and it will be slow
Well, wish me luck and contact me if you need to:

Buildings - Patience is a virtue...
04 April 2010 - 04:17 PM
Hey guys, me again Now, I have a question. Recently I have been moddeling some buildings which i want to add to the game. Now, here is the problem...
Let's take the Orc Pit, it has following files:
The question is: WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY? O_O I'm beginning to be scared of modding BfME
Okey, what i kind of deduced so far:
MBOrcpit_SKN - Model itself
MBOrcpit_STRA - That's the Idle Animation right?
MBOrcpit_ABLD - Construction animation (WHICH BTW I CANT OPEN! HOWWW?! :( )
Those three is all i get. What about the rest?
Can someone (since i can't find a tut) help me out and talk me through the process of making this building work in 3D in theory? Don't worry about the script, I will modify the existing one (orc pit). I just made the model, and want to see it in game as a new building with a new purpose

Well, first of all Let's say I have made a model in Rex (first time i use that thing, always been with max ). Now, I applied texture which as a format of .tga
Question is: Will that work in game, or do i have to do something else?

Modeler looking for work (BfME 1)
02 April 2010 - 04:59 PM
Hey, I am a modeler (not amazing one) and I'm looking for a project where I could develop my skills and meet other people who share similar interests (modding )
Here is an example of my work (lowpoly for fun):
http://img709.images...p?g=house1n.jpg
I have not yet done any models for BfME, but I am quite interested in it I have modded some games before, Gothic series being one of them. I know what I'm doing and I'm quite an organized person.
However, there is one little thing, I need someone to introduce me to moddeling for the game (such as file formats, scales etc) or I will need some time to learn those skills.
Thanks for all your responses and offers.
Regards, Zkajo
