Not sure I can help directly. I have used Sy's AssetBuilder but only for Worldbuilder asset.dat files (ones you would put in the program folder to get a mod in to Worldbuilder. For the mod asset.dat I use AssetCacheBuilder from the BFME 2 Mod SDK (you might be able to download it from the 3rd age site). For some models I had in-game Bounding Box and rendering problems with Sy's asset.dat. It seemed fine for Worldbuilder.
