Hello all of you once again, and greetings from the U.S. Navy! It's your old pal, Mr. Darkness, returned from the depths of boot camp and the underlayers of the Internet. And I'm back with some fresh new ideas!
First off, a while back, I had sent in a list of potential missions for a combined Allied-GDI campaign. I'm going to be revising that, since with the idea of utilizing the RockPatch, there is a higher potential for multiple campaign sets. If that is the case, perhaps five separate campaigns can be introduced, each one dealing with one of the factions. Of course, since it's the RockPatch, stability may become an issue.
Another suggestion is to stray away from the idea of using music packs - of course, they can be offered for use with the modification (or should I start calling it an expansion?), but perhaps it would be better to include a new, original soundtrack for use with the game. I for one would love to contribute a few songs for such a cause. And perhaps someone could convince Frank Klepacki to return from the depths of his website and contribute a few remixes of his work to the C&C public-domain fandom.
Lastly, this may seem more drastic than the other ideas, but I have been spending my time (well, more or less the time from which I bought the First Decade pack - which is a few days) thinking of a way to make this modification/expansion more enjoyable and as a part of the story of RA2/YR, rather than a replacement for YR. My idea is to have it all take place after the events of Yuri's Revenge, and the events of the expansion would be triggered by the activation of an excavated copy of Einstein's time machine in the future... which will forcefully activate the one in the past, considering the way Nod's engineers are going to end up fixing the stupid thing. The end result is largely the same as originally planned, but rather than ending up in the time of the invasion of America, they end up appearing after Yuri's capture and the original timeline merge. The name of the mod/expansion would be changed to "Command & Conquerâ„¢: TIMESHIFT" as a result of the refocusing. Of course, FS, you don't need to go with this idea. If you like it though, contact me and I'd be happy to assist.
I'm signing out, bubs. Later.
