Interesting discovery; gift to modders

29 September 2008 - 04:18 PM

Ok, so basically I've been experimenting with various behaviors and adding things to units that were once used for structures. Now I've discovered the perfect thing. I gave Frodo the spawnfighters module tag, and set it up so the whole fellowship spawns from Frodo, and they can't be controlled but roam close to him, attacking hordes of enemies just like in the movies. One could also set this up so that when Frodo dies, he drops the ring. Now I have not tested on whether you do gain control of all the heroes when frodo dies, but it worked when I did this with the witchking and his ringwraiths, so I don't see why it wouldn't with frodo. In any case, the heroes do level up when they kill enough, so the idea is to get them high leveled enough, let frodo die, and then have all your fellowship's powers right handy to you.

Here's the individual coded files. All one has to do is set it up to build FellowshipFrodo via the playertemplate, or whatnot.

I have an idea for making Lord of the Rings Conquest happen sooner

Alright, so I've just discovered an awesome tool for converting models from BFME1/2 & Rotwk, into .msh

A VRML file (Virtual Reality Markup Language) has been an industry standard for years and most 3D editing software (such as MAYA and 3DS Max) will export it. You will find a ton of models on the internet in VRML.

To import a VRML file, simply drag and drop the file into the viewer. If the file is big, it may take some time to convert, so be patient! Currently, conversion doesn't create triangle strips so you need to be careful about file size - it won't be as fast until I code triangle stripping.

My question is, is it possible for some of you to do this? Because if you can, I can apply the .msh files into Star wars battlefront 2. This means I can make a mod map with real lord of the rings models, arm them with special combo styles just like LotrC, and essentially build our own game!

I know this technically isn't a "bfme mod topic" but it involves you bfme modders, and I am one of the only knowledgeable modders who knows Swbf2 modding here, to my knowledge.

In any case, I hope this plan works out =)

The Ringwraith Riding Shelob mod for Bfme2

This video showcases Mirkwood. I intend on posting more videos as I go along, building up to an actual release.

This project has been off and on under works since 2006, and my original goal was to make Bfme2 better then Rotwk, and only using stuff from bfme2, no new models or anything (partially cause at the time I had no knowledge of how to do stuff like that, still have trouble getting things localized.)

The mod contains so much added content that it IS better then Rotwk, in my humble opinion.

Added factions include:

Rohan seperated from Men, special units: the Mages

Far Harad: Special Units: Zombie King, Balrog Sorcerers

Mirkwood: All around strong faction. No real special units, but no weak ones either.
Special heros: Vampire bats, Wraith king, giant Shelob

Nature: Special units: Eagles from Eagle Erie (special eagles with VERY strong weapons.)
Tornado hero unit

All the base factions have recieved additional units, 2 specific factions gained "special units" to counter-act the new factions ones. Dwarves and Goblins.
Dwarves have 5 heroic dwarf units, Goblins have access to 4 different dragons to attack the eaglets, and 2 wyrm creatures.

Most if not all guard towers produce 15 buffed individual guard units that roam around guarding the tower, and become usable if the tower dies or is sold.
All economy structures are DESIGNED for SPAMMING. So spam away!

All naval units build faster. Watcher is a buildable unit from the evil factions to use in water, plans are in route to make more naval ships.

Remember.. this isn't about making something remotely close to Lord of the Rings lore, it's about making crazy fun strategic units and seeing how much destruction you can reign down on your opponents.

The Ringwraith Riding Shelob bfme2 mod

11 June 2008 - 03:20 AM

Essentially, this mod was dead since 2006, but I recently revived my work and began adding to it. So far there are 3 new factions, and lots of content added to existing ones. Rohan and Gondor are split apart. The majority of that rohan coding was donated by an old friend, I believe was MeMw Ellesar but I could be mistaken. I think it might be Daniel... Dunno. In any event, I only claim ownership to my new units on Rohan's team, the Elven Enchanter and elven healer.

As far as the rest of the factions go, all my work, and all taken from previously existing material. I use no new models or anything.

New Factions are: Mirkwood(relies on debuff buildings and lots and lots of spiders to win.)
Nature (has access to lots of creeps at start but has poor middle game, and perfect endgame. Very powerful units to build)
Harad (So far weakest beginning game, and has access to a VERY powerful hero... )

New additions: All resource buildings are modified to be able to be spammed en-masse.
Powerful horde units have been added to all factions. Example: berserker horde for isengard, attack troll horde for mordor.
Dragonlings, eaglets and cave bats/crebain are given as air units and function similiar to nazgul in attacks.

Will post the mod if people are interested to play. Screens:

Rohan's Elven Enchanter...
That cloud above him is there for a reason..

Any unit that comes by gets zapped by lightning bolts, much like a tornado's attack works, except without a tornado visable.

And finally, most recently taken tonight, is this stunning photo of the Harad Zombie King attacking and converting a whole army to his cause.

DamageSubType Editing

10 June 2008 - 03:13 AM

Ok, so I was exploring the possibility of modifying the current Become_Undead subtype to have a second one, that would spawn via OCL, a different unit other then a Barrowwight. I cannot seem to find these subtypes to edit them... Anyone know where I can find them?
