They extended the time it would be kept up - you can still download it. But you cannot register it to get the serial number - as these have dates incorperated itno them, they cannot be used again after roughly five days [this is why people cannot post up their old codes to help people with this free modeller]

Odd behavoir, but there you go. I went the route with getting 3ds max 7. What I make requires it.

People doing modding - I recomend xsi free mod tools - its just like their full product [unlike gmax which was a reduced old version of MAX v3/4]. It doesn't do the full range of file formats [e.g. 3ds, MAX, low etc] it does enable you to export to the games. I have used it before and I believe it is the best route for modders at the moment.

I hope this clarifies my previous post

Seriously though, this seems a good forum to be in - I'm glad I joined. Everyone seems as mad as I am...

I know this is an old topic but...

All those interested in gmax should know that the company is no longer supporting it. There are few places to download it now, and no one is giving out the serial numbers for it. These numbers were time encoded so you won't be able to use old ones.

There are two alternatives:
(1) fork out a large amount of money and get 3ds max
(2) go to XSI website and get their free mod tools - with a few tricks and programs, you can get them to convert the files to more useful formats

Hope this helps
