lol francis .. the DMZ can kill the router instantly if there is enough interest in it .. we don't use it unless in closed networks because the pairs on it have full access on all ports .. its one step above the ultimate open router. its so risky I don't recommend it unless u know what u doing and we use it mostly for maintenance purposes.

the key about port forwarding is that some time the frameware fails to do the changes. so u got the port opened but its not really open yet. best choice in such situation is to update ur router firmware.

just remember 2 things:

there is a lot of things can block the ports

and more important don't get ppl play games by any cost. security comes first all times

I think its a session expiration timer ,, and its deferent between sitting in lobby and hosting a game in the lobby

 

in the game it has less time

 

we need to fix it because it make 5+ player games to hard to start

 

meanwhile I suggest all players restart their games once the host gets DC

 

this way the sessions will have the same timer so u don't get some players dc while other not

How to play BFME2 online

Step by step details for dummies

So if you want to play BFME2 online here you go you are at the right place. 

 

To play this game you need certain files and game installations. 

But to play it online without the lag and the OOS thingy you need to have the exact things as I use here. 

 

For example you can play offline skirmishes with your original CD if you have one.

But to use the ISO file I provide here to play online. Why? Because there is a golden rule about gaming online: people must have the same files so they can play without conflicts. 

 

New games can handle allot of conflicts by their coding but when it’s about the old games there is no such things and games will keep crashing OOSing  lagging and other issues  you may noticed.

BFME2 isn’t an exception. The game is almost 10 years old so when a new OS came like windows 8 or windows 10 the problems will even get doubled.

 

This article divided in 2 parts the first is the technical info that they are general and you can use them in all games and second part is the installation guide BFME2 game.

 

Part 1: Technical things you need to know

 

A: Lag

Online games needs a certain amount of network traffic to play smoothly

When you play on LAN you don’t need this because you have at least 10mbps link and its more than what you need. But when you gets online in internet there the problem occurs.

Lucky you the old games don’t need as much as bandwidth as new ones need. The BFME2 needs low bandwidth to be free. Actually I did test it in my company lab and it was lag free in any speed more than 16KBps.

As you may know 1KB means 8Kb so if your Internet Service Provider provides you info with bits or Bytes you can just convert them.

What we need is any speed more than 16KBps or 128Kbps.

As you see it’s a very low connection speed so that can’t be an issue this days.

 

B: ping time

The ping time is another issue that can make the game lags. Some Internet Service Providers have great bandwidth allocations (Internet Speed) but they don’t have low pings.

The ping means how much you are connected without request time outs .

Unfortunately this is not a thing that you can ask your ISP about it. I mean they can answer you but there is no guaranty that they will tell you the truth and as it’s a technical thingy it can be vary from time to time. For that you can use make a ping file and test it by yourself. To do that open your notepad or any text editing software and type this code there:

ping google.com -t

Use copy and paste to ensure no type mismatches.

After that hit save as from the file menu and chose save as type: all files then name the file as ping.bat and save it in the desktop so you can use it easily when you need it.

When you run it you can see the ping response time in ms.
Any number below 200ms is great 200 to 600 ms is good 600 to 1000 ms is still playable.
What you should be aware of is the request timed out issue if your link has a lot of this you may consider changing your ISP.

 

C: The OOS

Online gaming is a way different in management than offline ones. When you play offline everything is stored at your PC and that’s why you can cheat and modify files and game data easily.

But in online gaming your PC only held the game data but the game info is stored on the server you play at. All games need some sort of protection so the players can’t modify them on the online session and during the game play. That’s why games need OOS. So basically it keeps the game fair and uncheatable.

Any modifications on the major games info like money, health, powers and etc makes the OOS happen.

In BFME2 is the same but this game have a lot of OOS compared to other games and this means they got a very tight vision when they code it. Some games when they modify them online when they know they just revert the true numbers with those you cheated in and the game continues without OOS but in BFME2 it will OOS as fast as it detects the issue.

But there is some reasons other than cheats make the game OOS.

Low connection speed and lag are the most causes. The other cause is the different patches and that means different files in game. If you do as I will describe, you won’t get the OOS unless someone is cheating.

 

D: Firewall

The firewall is what you need to understand to get in game quickly. Most recent firewalls won’t cause you a problem. They will auto configure your game and you can run it without any issue but some they don’t make exceptions and they will block the game or the port that the game use for the connection. When you are in the game lobby you can test your firewall. In BFME2 there is 6 deferent stages that shows your connection status.

 

Blank: this means you have your firewall blocking this game. And there is no icon shown.

Waiting to connect: it’s the black icon and it means you are connecting to the server.

Attempting connection: it’s the sand timer icon and means you are connected to the server and now you are connecting to other players, this means the gamming port is open and you can connect to the server but still the firewall can block your connection with other players.

Connected: here you can see your connection speed by 3 deferent colors. Green , yellow and red. Green is the best and red is the weakest connection.

Failed connection: this means your firewall is blocking the game entirely or for other reasons you can’t connect and it’s the worst situation.

 

Some hints about the firewall:

1-    When you are not connecting due to firewall blocking your game, if you are not browsing on the web the easiest way to bypass this is to disable your firewall.

2-    Minimizing can ruins the connections so don’t do it.

3-    Refresh your NAT from options after disabling or enabling your firewall.

4-    When you got a weak connection from one player it’s better to let him join the game as last person.

5-    Try to join the game one by one don’t rush entering when the connections are weak.

 

E: DC

The disconnecting happens a lot in this game. When you are in the lobby waiting for your game you have a session opened on the server. Sessions have time to expire. When that happens, you will get DC. There is no way to avoid DC but when you restart your game the session will be renewed.

In 3v3 or 4v4 this can be annoying because when some players get ready to play, others keep DC and that increases the waiting time. To avoid this all players must restart their game and logging at once. With this you all will get the same expiration time so either you all get DC or you all stay online in lobby.

 

F: refresh NAT

NAT refers to Network Allocation Table and it’s a method the OS use it to make connection between peers. A broken NAT will cause you not connecting to certain or all players. A lot of things makes the NAT broke but you can fix it easily by hitting the refresh NAT on options.

 

G: Smooth gaming 

So if you want to be sure that you have no lag no OOS or other issues in bfme2 just consider this steps:
1- Use the same files as I used here.
2- Choose your host carefully the higher speed it has the best results you can get.
3- People with weak connections can make the game lags. If you are playing games more than 2v2 it shows even more. The game speed is as fast as the weakest connection. So it needs just one weak connection to lag.
4- When you play with AI make sure all players have the latest patch switcher otherwise you will get OOS no matter how fast are your connections.
5- When the game gets OOS all players must restart their games to prevent it from happening again. Actually pro players restart the game after every play.
6- When there are people in the game lobby that they can’t connect to certain players try to change the host and let one of those who have the issue to host it. Let the people with difficulties join the game first when the connections established expand the room and let others to join.
7- Don’t forget to refresh your NAT from options if you minimize the game before the game starts.
8- Don’t minimize while in game. This makes the game lags and sometimes OOS.

9- Remember that cheats can be happen easily and the game will OOS but Hacks are more difficult to detect. Please tell us if someone hack in the game.

 

 

 Part 2: How to install and play BFME2 step by step

 

As I Saied before if you want to play this game with no issues you have to use the things I use here if you use other Download Sources there will be no guarantee that the game won’t make strange crashes or OOS etc.

Step1: You need the game ISO file which is the basic game CD.

But as far as I searched the best ISO you can use is the one that Forshire made it. With regards to his great job for this game you can download it from these Download Sources.

Step2: To mount and use the ISO files you need a good mounting tool.

So far the best one I tested is DAEMON Tools Lite version 4.49.1-0356

Don’t download any other versions of this software unless you have it installed and working on your system because the new ones are some kind not free. After installation run it and hit add SCSI then you will need to restart your windows.

Step3: After installing daemon tools and restarting you will find a new drive in your computer. That’s the virtual drive you just added. Use the ISO from step1 mount it and install the game in its default directory. Unless u doesn’t have free space in C drive, don’t change the defaults. Use this key gen to generate your key.

Step4: To run the game you need the mini images.

They are the exact clone of the original CD so when you use them you won’t need to crack the game. And they are necessary for online play as u can’t play online with the cracked files. You need to use them instead of cracking the game.

Step4: mount the images from step 3. Here you have 2 options either you can dismount the original special edition and mount the new images or you can just make a new virtual drive as I showed you in step 2 and mount them with the new drive.

Sometimes the games keeps showing “insert the game CD to play” if u saw this just mount both of the images and you will be fine.

Step 5-1: Now you can play the game. Actually you must play it now. Do 1 skirmish and just save the game after at least 5 minutes or more. Save it by any name but remember to change the default name. When you do the saving the game creates some directories that you may need them later.

     Step5-2: When you run the game if you are at windows vista or above and the game         crashed just use this fix if not just skip this step.

Step 5-3: Now if you get the auto defeat after playing 3:30 minutes of the game use this file to fix it otherwise just skip this step. That’s why I said before to play more than 5 minutes.

Step6: Now you need to patch the game to the latest patch.

The latest patch is 1.08 and the 1.09 is going to be out soon but now you just use the 1.08 patch. To do this you will need the All in One patch installer for the game we will call it patch installer from now. The latest patch installer version is 1.6 and it patches your game to versions 1.00 1.06 and 1.08. You need to install it then run it and patch your game to 1.08 version after that fix your screen resolution and exit the patch installer.

So you need to patch to version 1.08 with the patch installer version 1.6. As you see the latest game patch version is 1.08 and the latest patch installer version to do this is 1.6

Step7: Here is the step you have to choose your loyalty. You can play this game online in 2 places. The first one is T3A and the second place is Game Ranger or GR.

Game ranger has a lot of games and also a lot of players for each one but T3A is more friendly and it uses the same game style as the original servers did. I tried both and I chose T3A because it has more players on the latest patch version. I encourage you to play with US on T3A.
