He already is/was. It was a story he sold. Just no one cared that the story in no way matches up with reality. People just wanted simple solutions to complex problems, and Trump gave them that. Every single thing he said was a lie, but it didn't matter. It was easy solutions compared to Harris's comparatively complex policy-based solutions that really didn't even go far enough. Harris represented the establishment and in no way really rocked the boat which is what people wanted. Again, never mind that Trump literally IS the establishment. People believe he isn't for... reasons. I guess because he says ridiculous stuff that they believe.
Trump is already the worst president of the century; a second term will probably push him below the likes of Reagan or Jackson.
