In Topic: Tia Dalma & Davy Jones

Watched the movie again this morning with this theory in mind. My revised thoughts:

- The shot where we see Tia's locket indeed appears to be showcasing the locket, masking it behind the action of Jack stealing that ring. I still think it's too subtle for the depth of this movie, but that locket was definitely meant to be seen.

- You'll also notice that the lock on the Dead Man's chest is in the same shape as these two lockets.

- All that said, I still don't think Tia is Davy's love. Firstly because of the way she tells the story: she really doesn't tell it like she's the one who he fell in love with. Secondly, Tia seems too young for Davy. Davy must have cut out his heart at least a hundred years beforehand (Bootstrap was in Davy's service for around 10 years and still looked quite human; therefor, the more fish-like crew members would have to have been in service for 30-50 years; the guy who is basically part of the ship's wall must have been around for 80-100 years; if this guy was is first "captive" [unlikely, tales of "Davy Jones" were around much longer than that], Davy has been the way he is for about a century), and Tia is certainly not 100 years old (unless she's immortal or something screwy like that [stabs at Barbossa])

Anywho, I'd say she knows/knew Davy's love, but isn't the love herself.

I think the progressive fear immunity is done by granting different attributemodifiers at different levels, with varying percentages of fear resistance.

Didn't know that anything other than 100 worked in the resistfear attributemodifier. That aside though, I'm going to have enough boring work to do with making every unit have unique levels at which to resist fear: I don't want to make that job even worse by having it progress.

I have a funny feeling this is just the result of the art department scrambling to make up for the never-finished-script. One or the other is probably just a slightly differently dressed version of the other, and it was hoped that no one would notice. My guess is that the locket in the key stealing scene wasn't originally scripted, but the constantly changing script probably called for something to "keep him asleep" or what-have-you. Tia's locket is only glimpsed very briefly (I believe), and I doubt the simplistic level of this screenplay would allow something like that to go by so quickly if it would come into play later.

As great as the movie is, it's riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies. These matching props certainly doesn't "confirm" anything. Of course, it certainly isn't out of the question either (the script probably still isn't finished, and this online rumour could have given those writers some fodder).

I went to the book store yesterday to pick up some history material, and saw this book on the shelf. Didn't realise it was out, didn't realise I just so happened to be at the book store on its release date. The stories of Hurin, Turin, and co. aren't exactly of great interest to me, so I'll be waiting until I finish my other books before starting this one.

That trailer made me feel a little sick...

Morgoth (the devil, Sauron's master)

*smacks JEV3's wrist* Bad JEV3! Quit your analogous (is that even a word? Pertaining to analogy?) thinking!

As to the questions on the emotion system:

- No, progressive fear immunity will not be implemented (I can't think of any way to implement it anyway)
- I will be working on other emotion aspects than just fear. One is the taunt system, another being the large group system. Mumakil and Troll rage is certainly on the list as well.

As a side note: I bought Children of Hurin yesterday while getting some other history books. Not overly excited about it, so I'll wait until I'm finished my other books to start it.
