In Topic: Why did Revora have to get shut down for Generals?

Hey there Chicken!

The decision to retire our services for Zero Hour came after we spend a lot of time discussing it internally.

After the release off the source code for Zero Hour and Generals and the subsequent birth of GeneralsOnline did we observe how they were doing and how the player base reacts. As we were personally not able to jump onto the source code projects as we are busy ourselves with catching up to years of no development. After it became evident that community efforts, tools and focus will change towards GeneralsOnline did we decide after working with the GeneralsOnline team for a while to accompany their big public release continuesly linking to them and then after a few weeks to retire our services so the community can move onto 1 unified and modernized plattform not only for gameplay but also for security and modernity reasons.

We wanted to avoid to have Revora, Radmin, GameRanger, Generals Online and god knows hamachi or comparable services all exist at the same time and split the playerbase amongst each other. For both Revora and Generals Online it was easier to retire ZeroHour and in that motion Generals and pass the torch over to Generals Online.

This way the playerbase gets to exist under one roof and community efforts and tools dont need to account for a million services.
