Sometime after the Dune US release comes the Mockbuster version, Planet Dune. I'd argue it has a strong semblance to a Riddick movie. Sean Young who was among the cast of the Lynch version is in this.

At least that was one of the fewest low budget movies that actually have decent CGI instead of terrible outdated CGI. At least now there's a movie of humans trying to defeat a sandworm.
