  • The Battle for Middle-earth series (I, II, RotWK and their respective Worldbuilders and modding tools)
C&C 3 Kane's Wrath seems to work in the tech previews. Since the engine is mostly shared, you shouldn't have many issues.

CNC3 works normally on that OS, without any mistakes.. other games too.

I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to derail games from EA just for "business as usual" reasons.  But it'll probably be fine.

Alright, the countdown begins until Windows 10 launch. Lets see what happens! In all honesty I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to fail at doing this "Easy Upgrade" type of thing.

It appears for Nvidia users, they have to download a specific separate version of the driver for Win10. No wonder why the recent Nvidia drivers that were designed for Win Vista, 7 and 8 don't work for Win10. Also there have been reports that mandatory Win10 auto updates conflicted with Nvidia video card drivers.

I have no confidence that Windows 10 will be epic. It'll be better than Windows 8 but no better than Windows Vista. The designs are one step backwards lacking most 3D edgy shadowing and more simple 2D icons and windows. As for the Windows features, more than half of them are removed or replaced with something else, leaving to install more 3rd party programs to tweak Windows. If I want to see the future of design and PC computing, Windows 10 is simply not it.

Zocom, contrary to what you have said (using Windows 10 right now). So far I love everything including the new edge browser. I think its better then windows vista, 7, 8, and 8.1. Yes, it does take a bit to get used to to but everything including the design is pretty solid IMO. That said, I have an Nvdia Graphics Card in my laptop I am using right now and I havent installed any new drivers for it and it works like a charm, pretty sure it is only conflicted with some users.

--

The 3D edgy shadowing I dont see anywhere on the OS. I see transparentcy and flat minimal design which is what 2013-2015 has all been about basically.

For those unsure about whether to upgrade I urge you to give it a shot, I think you will find that for once Microsoft has actually hit it on the nail.. I will be installing the BFME games later today to test it out. I completely bootcamped my mac just to test windows 10 out and i think i am actually gonna keep it.

I just need to know one thing: how big is it?  It may hog up my internet for a whole day.

It is different for each user (honest truth) some people report that it is 3gb some report that it is as big as 10gb. I am not sure, however, in all honesty I think mine was around 7gb. You should have at least 20gb available for installation space though.

BFME WORKS! :D You may need to download the older version of Direct X but after that it works as usual!

7 gigs???  That's one tragic honest truth.  Alright... I'll download it tonight when I'm unconscious.

What, an existing DX install isn't transferred? Luckily, DX9 doesn't need long to install...

I may of not had it installed on my 8.1 before the upgrade so do NOT quote me on that haha but if it does not transfer then yes it will need to be redownloaded. Then just throw it into compatibility mode or something and you should be all set!

The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch King. Soz. =p The mini-image has been reported as not working (in the shoutbox) and I don't want to upgrade without that game working. ;p

I'm aware of the reports, but it isn't certain what's causing that yet. Some people report vanilla BFME2 mini-image still works.

On a hopefully related note, I've had zero luck with Daemon Tools lately after it decided not to work in several ways across three versions on Win7...

Guess we turning this into a support thread haha. I'll look into the rotwk issue later, daemon tools lite has a redesign for Windows 10 so it's a bit tough to navigate now. I'll see if I can find another mounting solution and fix this up, I shall let you all know what happens!

Screw zat... I can't even get Windows 10 to detect my TV.  Do I have to take my HDMI cable out and blow in it, or something?

So I went to the NVIDIA page, detected my graphics card, and I got the recommended driver... but it won't work.  Not compatable with Windows 10.

Soo... what the heck do I do?
