Hello everyone, we hope you've all had a jolly good 2015!

waN3BhD.png

We are looking forward to the upcoming winter season, for we're bringing back a themed 1vs1 christmas & winter tournament!

The rules are simple:

  • Download, install and play with the XMAS mini mod that we have built for you! This modification does not touch gameplay or balance but only appearance and design. It does not interfere with your normal game!
  • Use our server to play.
  • You have to play on one of the [WE] maps. If in doubt, use [WE] Fords of Isen.
  • Random army only (except: if both players agree you may pick army).
  • Each round will be best of 3 games. For decisive 3rd games you might want to ask for a neutral host. Semifinal and final will be best of 5 games, if both parties don't agree otherwise.
  • Apart from that, normal tournament rules apply, patch 1.06.
  • The winner has to save and upload his replays in the forum topic of the corresponding round!
  • Don't take it too seriously, but please show good sportsmanship =)

We'll try to provide (live) commentary from the event.

Signups are open from now until 20.12.2015.

Discuss or sign-up!

Enjoy!

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

I can't seem to download and install this correctly. The files should go into this folder, right?

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Battle for Middle-earth ™

Thanks in advance

Well, no. It's an installer, you're supposed to run it, and then it installs itself (into, indeed, a different folder).

Hey,

did you get it to work? The installer has to install the files into "C:\Users\$USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth Files", or wherever your options.ini is located. Usually the default path the installer sets works. It will then create a desktop shortcut that you can launch to play the christmas edition.

You would have to ask gameranger support, as far as I know they don't support mods.

Please play your group games until 04.01.2016 which is the date when I'll return from duty meaning directly afterwards we'll enter the elimination stages of this tournament!

Good luck in the last games.

PS. If you don't like the christmas music after christmas anymore just disable it via the options menu ;).

I'm fine with you using the normal maps for the next stages qf/sf. Given that the tourney takes way longer than originally planned and Christmas is really over. Both players have to agree on this, and use the Xmas edition if no consensus was found. Play should take place on the server like before.

Anyway, the final will have to use the Xmas edition, simply because it's the Christmas tournament and we'll try to stream it/get a commentary.

Cheers.
