So, I wanted to make an unoffical Mental Omega campaign while we're waiting for Act II. May I be provided with the Final YR that you're using or something? Or is it already prepackaged and I didn't notice?
How do I make maps?

*Insert Barracks*
Potatoes:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *Evacuating his base*
*Engineer capture the rest of his base, and nukes the only way out*
Me:Sorry, pal. I've been holding back for 2 hours.

I do wonder if there will be an -official- release for the modified FinalAlert. There's a way to -get- -it- unofficially, but would be still nice to have it officially.

Hey a little support.
Anyone willing to dissect the fuck out of a bunch of stock RA2 maps to create a custom MO map editor?

I'm not sure how that's supposed to work... As far as I know, the best you can do is to put specific vanilla units/buildings etc where you want MO stuff to be in Finalalert, then open the .map file in notepad and replace the instances of the placeholder with the thing you want from MO.
Sidebar icons for normally not buildable stuff: Yuri Prime, Space Commando, Allied Jackal (obsolete), Gravitron
Skirmish Map: (2) Commietopia

Guess that's true.
As for the dissection, if we can figure out everything about an RA2 map, then we can just add the .ini files to be able to load, and so on so forth.
Essentially if I can figure out how everything in an RA2 map works, I can recreate final alert, only for Mental Omega.

1 - MO uses different file names, so the editor searches for rulesmd.ini in expandmdXX.mix archives, while MO use expandmoXX.mix archives and its rules file is rulesmo.INI, same deal with some other files. The editor just won't notice the mod, because it will never try to open the necessary files.
2 - But even if it will, it cannot access the mod's archives anyway because they are encrypted.
The first problem can be solved by hex-editing the FA2 executable, and the second one has a solution too.
