If I remember correctly they are located in the asset.dat file, so first you need to download an asset builder / editor. Then to edit and view them you'll have to download a program that supports those formats. I know there has been some issues opening up tga files in photoshop so there's a plugin that fixes the problem. There are many useful tools you can download on the 3rd age's downloads page.

They are not in the asset.dat file. All you need to do is get FinalBig and extract the Textures.big files in your installation directory.
Ah, yeah you're right. I just realized

"Things you need in advance: 4. Your texture files already extracted"
these are the textures files, to extract them with finalbig you go to Edit > Extract

1. Download FinalBig.
2. Navigate to your BFME2 installation folder.
3. Open Textures0.BIG with FinalBig. Extract it to a new folder you made outside of the installation folder, eg. BFME2 Texture Files. Do the same thing for the other Textures.BIG files.
4. BFME2's art files are organized by prefix. That means that in your BFME2 Texture Files folder, you'll find a ton of folders.
5. To find the MotW builder's portrait, go to the UP folder (Unit Portrait) and open upgondor_porter.dds.
