So in the Epsilon Act II mission, Obsidian Sands, the Epsilon violently subdues Scorpion Cell and reportedly kills Rashidi.

My question is, why would the Scorpion Cell turn against the Epsilon that quickly? I would assume they would stick around and help the Epsilon a bit longer instead of attempting to defect....

Also, are there any known real life examples in our timeline where terrorist groups have turned against each other while initially attempting to defeat their common enemy?

Sorry if I'm not making any sense here...just been wondering about this for some time now...

MachineHead was supposedly going to explain that (in case you didn't know it is supposed to be before Obsidian Sands but it didn't get released last patch due to some difficulties I assume).

and by the looks of it, Rashidi may or may not have betrayed Yuri to form an alliance with Yunru and Join the Foehn Revolt, evidenced by the Chinese units and EMP mines Rashidi had in Obsidian sands.

It would be a nice touch if there were a few epsilon techs in Foehn arsenal in Machinehead which would then make Yuri investigate SC alliance and in turn cause Obsidian Sands to happen.

This is what I see when anyone misspell Fury Drone as Furry Drone

I made a youtube playlist of songs that may have inspired mission names (at least 50% is correct and seen by Speeder himself)

If I were you, I'd ask what sent Rashidi dealing with Yunru (re: Obsidian Sands mission briefing).

Looking at the MO timeline and Rashidi's dialogue at the start of the mission, there are 2 factors that stand out:

(1) The Paradox Engine - with enough firepower to clear a warpath from London to Cape Town, it is very safe to say that Rashidi is shaken by it. He hated the Allies enough to die as a martyr should the Paradox Engine get him, but that's another story.

(2) Libra - I believe Libra's emergence was what caused Rashidi to totally lose his marbles. While it is safe to say that Rashidi does not share Yuri's vision of global mind control, one can be certain that Rashidi does not want to be an unwilling part of it in the end

Hope that helps shed some light on your question (altho indirectly) :)

Look at his post date. Clearly he posted before 3.3.3 and the briefing are released.

But yeah, that's a curious question. Maybe he knows that dealing with Yuri is not safe. He does have contact in China if Killing Field briefing is any indication.

The way I see it Rashidi's alliance with Yuri was always one of convenience. He believed that PsiCorps was the best hope for Africa to be free to chart its own destiny. However as Yuri's methods became more and more underhanded and he went from subverting the Allies and Soviets to conquering and mind controlling them, not to mention seeing how psychotic Libra is and how utterly unstoppable the Paradox Engine is he decided that Yuri was the wrong horse to back and chose to make an alliance with the only other player in the game whose interests were even remotely compatible with his, Yunru's Proto-Foehn army.

Think about it, from Rashidi's point of view Yunru is just a child forced into a life she doesn't want and she's attempting to create a liberation army of her own, to free her own people from Soviet oppression much like how he's trying to free his from the Allies' control. Yuri clearly doesn't actually care about Rashidi's interests, to Yuri, he's just another tool to be used and discarded whenever he's no longer useful. Yunru however does seem to share the same goal as Rashidi, destroy the corrupt superpowers that are currently controlling the globe and build something better in the aftermath, he understands what Yunru is fighting for but as he said at the start of "Obsidian Sands" he has no idea what Yuri is fighting for and he doesn't like the possibility of Epsilon becoming a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". I'm sure his decision to defect to Yunru's nascent Foehn Revolt wasn't a spur of the moment action, it was the culmination of him getting more and more disillusioned with Yuri's Epsilon.

Already happened? She nuked God knows how many into oblivion, and leads an army of her own. It's also safe to say that she had a hand in the development of those nasty man-eating nanites we see in the Foehn arsenal.
