When I play singleplayer, I do not get the minimap or any of the HUD elements including the bottom bar and the unit training bar. Help please.

What's your ingame resolution?

I tried 1920 x 1080 and the recommended 1440 x 1050

I had the same problem on Win10! I got it working on 1920 x 1080 (using DDrawCompat for the renderer, best renderer may vary) Make sure to watch this tutorial:
