Spawned Porter Model vs Buildable in the Fortress

porter model

Best Answer Miraak5, 13 May 2020 - 04:54 PM

the models from bfme2 and rotwk are the same,

it look like the spawned builders will just always have the high res skin even if you are playing on low graphics (and so the ones u build after will have the correct low graphic skin)

so it's probably an ingame bug with the system that is supposed to switch the skin depending of your graphical quality, nothing rly important

just make a XXX_skn for your new porter skin u want to create, so it will always be the same independently of the graphics

I have been porting a mod onto 2.02. I wanted to add new skins for porters, but I noticed that when I build a porter in the fortress, the models differs from the ones that I get at the start of the game. I am assuming the game is taking a model from BFME 2 when you build a porter in the fort. The same thing happens in 2.02 on low graphics.
My question is, how do I make the game refer to the correct DwarvenPorter object when the porter is built so it does not use the model/skin from BFME 2?

EDIT: I see that there are different skins designated for different graphic settings, such as:

duport_skn

duport_sknm
duport_sknl.
Problem was solved by copy-pasting duport_skn and replacing duport_sknm/sknl with duport_skn, so essentially the same file will be responsible for high, medium and low settings, so the porters should look the same.

Thank you!

I had three skins, two of which were for med and low graphics,  so I ended up removing xxx_sknm and xxx_sknl, which fixed the problem.
