Not good to see everyone gone? Where are all the regulars? The board was down from Sept 9th-Sept20th I believe or thereabouts then everyone disappeared. Is everyone playing newly released games then? Warhammer40k: Dawn Of War, Rome: Total War, Kohan2 ? All amazing RTSes I might add. :p

The community is a bit small right now, as we are not really fully online yet. Things will get much more active once all of Revora is fully online again.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |

Yes it was an unfortunate coincidence that revora went down just when the AI discussion was at its climax..

Lion seems to have disappeared too....

Anyways once the SDI site is back up I'll see what I can do to produce an error free, re-indexed ZH SkirmishScripts.scb

Hey there.
I've been offline for a while, I'm in the States visiting my brother. I've also finished my contract and so aren't doing any more scripting, since I did it to pass the boring days at work.
I expect when I get back from the States I'll be too involved in DoW to do much scripting at all. And Lion does appear to have disappeared, in his last posts on his forum he mentioned that he had started Uni again, maybe he's got no time.
Anyway, gtg. I'm at a friends house using their net, can't type too much.

Cheers,
Lord Akkrand

It looks like we're switching over to DoW at present as there are MANY fellow coders over there who are working with myself and others to create some AI scripts and especially for the mods to come in 2-3 months. Its quite exciting although we're dealing with the LUA Language scripts (similar to AoM and AoE2) so it looks like C+ programming language. Fortunately, DoW has such mass appeal it easily attracts a community unlike a*shole EA who shoots down the community with almost nil support.

We're still working on the ZH scripts just in a diminished capacity.

Well that is bad news for the gens community. I personally was looking forward to the finished scp file that was gonna be a uber scp for gens. Than I could start scripting my new factions to add to that.

Hoping it comes back to life or is at least released as is...

Things are still looking good for ZH. It like anything in life - dating a new chick is all amazing and such for those first 1-2 years then after a bit she talks about serious shiet and it kinda gets overdrawn. Whenever a *new flair" shows up humanity will sometimes jump onboard as its fresh and new - blame EA totally for the absolutely crap they did for the community. I'm hoping LotR: BfmE flunks like a two-bit wh*re as it serves them byatches right! Gawd damn big arse company with bloated profits and totally zero respect and passion for the gaming community.

Putting games out for money is nice and all but money is robotic. Take away the human out of the gaming idle and yer left with a husk to which a community has to then resurrect back to life. Its not easy when the corpse is 3/4 decomposed. ;)

The link to your forums is incorrect on the SDI website... perhaps that's one of the reasons Lion was unable to find his way back here.

I just sent him an email telling him that he's missed here - hopefully he'll have the time to come back now.

Lion apparently lost a bit of his work due to *yet again* some royal screwup in the WorldBuilder. Hope he has the heart to get it working again.

I hear that too! Too bad Akkrand is gone or had a "life-turmoil" make him stop his work. He made lots of progress and I believe he moved the ZH AI tech far enough to make a major difference. Now Lion is there to assist.

LotR: BfmE is in-transit soon so it'll be interesting how Generals: Fantasy Edition plays out.

^Heh, yeah :)

Once the bug-free ZH SkirmishScripts.scb is done, (and unless there are requests from anyone of course) there is actually no need for more tutorials in the gen\ZH section..however, if there are questions in the forum then obviously they will be answered.

But the main point of focus (or the Eye) will rest on the BFME AI.. we wanted to make a unified project didn't we? With "we" I mean any scripters (+the present ones in this thread) that can prove their abilities or provide support in any other way.

Hey Guys!
Yes i am still alive, id still love to work on AI but real life is taking its toll and i havent got time for it anymore, which is a shame...
Ill still check now and then but so far i can say my AI work for generals is pretty much done, i still kinda left the guys at CNCGW hanging because i was supposed to help with the All Stars AI, and had to stop.
Please dont be unmotivated to work on what you like, keep coming and helping out, keep the community alive!

 ill be around from time to time, so if you have any questions, just ask away!

Greetings!

Thanks for leaving a note here too. It's sad to lose one of the best and dedicated ZH scripters but real life has no mercy - the same applies to me at the moment

Please dont be unmotivated to work on what you like, keep coming and helping out, keep the community alive!

Hmm, actually I don't think many people play ZH anymore, with EA having released BfME and announced RA3. Still, any questions or problems with Gen/ZH AI scripting will still be handled in this forum.

I guess I'll see you around sometime.. if not.. good luck on your future endeavours! ;)

For me, I just overtime got totally disgruntled with Generals/ZH support even though I totally enjoyed the game immensely. How can you repair something that is inheritently defective within itself? Further to this I looked at all the work I did with the scripts and then at Lion's/Akkrands' and felt we were more stronger if we merged them together (ie. I provide the cameo fixes+AI Base layouts while you fellows design the AI tactics and personalities).

I still have my old scripts but now whats the point? I have LotR: BfmE and LOW AND BEHOLD.. look at the WorldBuilder it comes with! WoW! ITS FIXED! F**k ME AND DIE! EA decided to correct many of its glaring issues and now I've played with it and it rocks!

My question is: how easy will it be to import all the ZH objects (tanks/planes, for example - screw the infantry.. the ZH infantry looked sooo bad compared to BfmE's. Infantry would have to be totally remodelled in a ZH mod foe BfmE)? Fortunately, theres nowhere near as many unit animations compared to DoW (which has up to 10 ! ! ! !) so it shouldn't take too long to remake all infantry from ZH (about 15) but clearly BfmE looks much better and the *new* WorldBuilder is fab!

I think we need to move on and build ZH the way it was meant to be built - ON SAGE 2.0 ! Currently, I'm conversing with many DoW AI scripters getting that project finished (its alot easier to do compared to ZH as we have many scripters this time out of the gate who know the LUA scripting language) + the gameplay makes the AI shine easier and preform to spec.

Anyway, I am around and currently playing with BfmE to get a feel for the new changes. They are there already - too bad most of the BfmE fanboys on the forumplanet.com forums don't get a clue that EA will again do it all over again and screw this one for RA3. We can only hope EA has understood support is key - they apparently have with an open letter to everyone saying they would although the past is a bitch: we don't forget.

Nevertheless, I'm around if ya need to discuss things. Haven't gone anywhere but priorities have changed as has the social life.

Cheers all and Merry :) <:) ;) to ya all!

Importing stuff to BFME is a pain. I still haven't figured out the necessary art settings to get something imported, and I'm still not sure if turrets will be functional or not. I need to learn LUA as well.

We could use you in DoW and likely in BfmE although right now the game is sooo new that we're just in the exploratory phase. What poetic justice it would be to have a ZH mod inside BfmE - it'll happen regardless as the community has not forgotten ZH.

Btw, good to see ya Mastermind2004 - I understand everyone is busy and such so keep in touch.

I'm planning to work with BFME, I don't have DoW, so I can't really mod it. I'm working with the Blitz 3 team for BFME, so I'll have lots to do.
