Question..

those green dots everywhere, are those waypoints for the AI ?

it would really own if we have maps on which the AI functions normally

alas, that would mean that the AI would need to be coded for our units, which is meant to be really hard.

Non of us know how to code AI... Hint hint, anyone out there?

This map, should in theory be playable as a normal general in generals though I've never tried. I have put in all the bumf, with Calamatys help.

hobbes... if you go to view and deselect 'show waypoints' and 'show object icons' it should get rid of them dots (hide em)

do you want to create a more structured thread for maps with all the images on 'cos ive got pics for my two completed maps - The Ultimate Gate and The Nexus... on top of Disctict 534.782

more structured as in like the ones you did for the units for each faction

note.. im working on my ice map.. over the line needs major reworking.. and vogon city is partly done.. also got jungle map that needs one hell of a lot of trees chopping down to be playable....

shit.. double post

sorry

How. On Earth. Have you guys made something this good?

I'm suing you all by the way. I'm suing you for jaw damage incurred when I looked at all th stuff across these preview threads and it dropped to the floor. Gits. It's your fault

I might just have to get a new computer and Generals to play this mod. I'm absolutely amazed by all of it.

I admit I'm no Warhammer fan whatsoever. I've never played the model game, Firewarrior or DoW. But I daresay that I might find it in myself to play this.

Thanks guys you've put a very chuffed smile on my face for one

So thanks from everyone whos contributed, I'm afraid we can't release any maps for now, just to keep them for this mod initially, but after its released I might be convinced to alter mine slightly for a release to be played with normal generals.

On the plus side, we're ironing out some last few things and then there will be a beta release, its so close you can almost touch it, so just keep an ear to the ground ;)

Hobageddon? (first map) would kill the AI, and will kill unit pathfinding. There's a reason that there aren't a lot of crowded urban maps in Generals. The pathfinding AI just isn't that good at all.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |

It'd probably kill your computer, too. The process power taken to draw that would be immense. Generals lags on the majority of systems as it is...that map'll stake them down and murder them...

It looks incredible, though.

only time will tell,

I left it as a 2 player map only on purpose.

I've had it up and running, obviously without an opponent, as there is no AI and generals was running on the max res, 1280 whatever. Had a few units running around on there, see the Steel Legion thread

It ran fine with me... Not saying some people won't have problems, or that AI won't be screwed, but originally it was only meant to be a shellmap for behind the menu, so if it turns out playable then its a bonus.

hmm...is Calamity able to get the AI on that map running for you? just for testing purposes this time :)

The map sure looks totally awesome, but i highly doubt my current system can run it without seriously going over the top :p

dunno, I'll try to polish up the last couple of bits (basically I think i need to remove rubble and make the base areas bigger, mainly for the massivo SM drop pods.

Then I'll chuck it over to someone, or we can have a blast at the mod on a multiplayer or something and see what happens.

Really though, it just started life as a shellmap, and so that we had something nice to take screens of units in, so I'll not be bitter if its not playable :p

erm that map aint exactly ready

its more of a demonstration of the softwares alpha blending

I have done some reworking on the textures... ill do some more before its ready.. its quite simply 'totally not warhammer 40k' :)

i mean as if yo uhave beautiful cream flag stones in a 40k trench... not only that but as if you have sandstone and what is obviously something like granite in the same cliff shelf eroded to the same level.. (yes I do think of geography in maps)

oh by the way I have built the shell map and scripted camera movements and unit spawns for District 534.782 Im running a damn brand new fast pc.. but it does run good :)

I'll have to see what feedbacks like

Might be too much for some systems

btw what map is the battlefields one :p

As far as the over the line one goes, if someones got it pass it over to me I'll give it a shot at 40king it up a bit.

I think it'll do just fine, and right now we could do with a few maps, and this one looks good to me.

@Hobbes:
if you're still watching/posting etc, YOUR map, District 534 should work, but please make a note or something that it is NOT for computers rated UNDER 1.2GHz :)
it made my old hunk 'o junk crash a bit....
